hate to break it to you, but if the talent level continues to be so poor, doesn't matter who the coach is, the lakers will continue to suck and attendance will continue to be low. its not about the coach.

Your example can't get out of the first round tho.

That's the point. Even with a good coach, the team is still not good enough.

If you get Thibs, you're not worried about last season or next season, he's your guy for the future...

It's irrelevant what he would have done in MDA's place.

If MDA ends up staying through next year, that to me is just indicative of the coaching market and the lack of solid names available to fill the large hole for the Lakers.

To his credit (what little I will give him), MDA did what he could with the guys he was provided. At times during the year he seemed to come across as a whiner and sometimes reluctant to accept his role in things. On that note he strikes me as something of a Good Time Charlie, who is not a true motivator of men and has the ability to put a team over the top. I think his record up to this point speaks that truth.

Both Kobe & Pau have stated that they will not wish to play for MDA any longer, so how does that get reconciled??? Talk about an unresolved conflict sitting in the room...

With the hope of bringing in better talent this offseason, there certainly needs to be thought put towards what the coaching direction is.

Where is this actual quote from Kobe that said he wouldn't play for MDA?

It doesn't exist... He was "Rumored to be uninterested in playing another season with MDA." He never came out and said that...

I get the sense though from Mitch's interviews, Kobe is pretty upset and has said a lot of things... But he didn't make that one public.

No public quote exists. But we all know he doesn't want to play for Dantoni. No one does on the roster outside of Steve Nash, Nick Young and a bunch of scrubs

I actually am not 100% sure on that... Kobe has been pretty supportive of MDA in the past even when I though it was obvious that he didn't want to play for him anymore...

He's clearly upset, but I think he might be more upset and Mitch and Jim than he is at MDA.

I was thinking the same thing...was hoping I'd get to see some proof he wanted him out. Damn lol.

I think a lot of the support is the "fake kobe". I never got the impression he loved playing his style after the allstar break two seasons ago. Kobe, I believe said something along the lines of "we are old as hell and can't play this style". Then the style became Kobe willing us to the playoffs on his own while saying screw MDA's system lol. In private I think Kobe likes MDA as a person but hates his style.

Kobe is way too much of an utilitarian to simply like a coach this late into his tenure merely for his being a good person. Name me one person who Kobe has worked with that he had been kind to that has been, in his estimation, worthless that he has taken kindly to.

Mike Brown  . He wasn't too happy when he wasn't informed of Mr. Brown's hiring. I have no direct proof if that is what you are looking for. I love Kobe but fake/political Kobe is displayed very much like fake/political MJ was years ago. I understand why he has to keep his mouth shut at times.
