Sixers fans big board: Pick #9 RUNOFF (POLL) REVOTE

Post#1 » by HartfordWhalers » Tue Apr 29, 2014 1:05 am

It is a runoff.

Saric, McDermott, Harris, and Young. Each had over 10%, no one had over 24%.

Vote away.

Edit: Revote, McDermott got cut.

I'll go with Lavine again. Swing for the fences.

Harris all the way here. I liked him almost as much as Smart. Would help MCWs assists go way up. I like Young and think he has a big ceiling but I'm more confident in Harris and this is Way too high for a role player like dougie

I love and hate our 10 pick.

I love it because I think there is a ton of talent left in the draft that could actually be a home run/all star type talent. However, I think there are a lot of guys who might only top out at role-players at best. Glad I don't have to make the call, I would probably go LaVine here... but I voted Young because LaVine wasn't an option. Love his length, as long as his motor isn't awful, i think he can improve on D.

I went James Young before, but I am voting for the lower risk Gary Harris.

I was originally Hood/Stauskas, but here I went with Harris.

Tomorrow, I'll go with Young.

So we have procedures, I think the general idea of taking the top 4. Then if no one has 50%, the top 2. Any issues?

Anderson jumped into the 10% threshold after i posted this (should have locked voting), but I think making the runoff no more then 4 is needed at this point to avoid chaos.

Question..

What makes you guys say that Lavine is a high risk high reward potential unlike with McDermott?

Cons for both guys are being undersized defensively.

And as athletically flashy Lavine is, McDermott is much developed offensive player than Lavine.

If a team can find a way to mask McDermott's defensive problems, I think he can be a really high reward type player.

McDermott kind of reminds me of Dunleavy/Adam Morrison. While Lavine reminds me of Austin Rivers.

Well if Mcdermott reminds you of dunleavy and morrison, that's all the more reason not to draft him. Neither of those guys are particularly good basketball players

I haven't seen enough of Saric to pick him here. Harris is safe. Defense is coachable. Athleticism is not. I'll take Young for his freakin' ferocious throw down in traffic during the NCAA Championship Game.

Lavine's athleticism and lack of production make comparing him with McDermott problematic. I think a better comparison is between McDermott and Stauskas. IMO, these are the two best shooters in the draft. Both players get knocked for their defense. I think Stauskas has better size for his position and that he can be more effective in the Sixers pace game. Stauskas is also a very good facilitator for a SG and he throws the best lob pass in college basketball! :D

I would take Stauskas here...We need a deadly floor spacer not to mention his all around game is solid and he is not a tweener. He is a 2 guard and can pitch in some with ball handling if needed for MCW

No Kyle Anderson available so it has to be James Young here. Next up will be Anderson, then Stauskas.

I love James Young at this spot and have been thinking of him as my first choice if nobody falls to us at 10, but in recent days I have switched to Dario Saric. His highlights and reputation are great, and he really seems to have star potential.

It of course depends on who we get in the first pick, but going with the Andrew Wiggins scenario I think that the pick at 10 should be someone capable of playing the 4, and if Gordon, Vonleh or Randle aren't there at 10 then Saric is the next best guy in that category.

Plus if he wanted to stay over in Europe for another year it would help the 2015 tank effort. I firmly believe that we need to continue the tank strategy through the 2015 draft and then reevaluate then.

I would be happy with Harris here as well, but I like Saric and Young more. McBuckets and Stauskus to me would be options if we were to trade down a bit.

Switched my pick to Saric. I think he seems pretty special at that height with his skillset. But I would say it's really muddy here. I'll let Hinkie & Co pick and trust their judgement here.

What can he do that Jabari Parker can't do . Parker is way more athletic then we give him credit for . Longer arms as well. Saric is a true tweener.

That really isn't the point because if Jabari was there at 10 we would obviously take him first, but he won't be.

I like Saric if we get Wiggins with the first pick. If we get Parker then I would look to Young or Harris instead.
