I doubt they could strip him of ownership just like that, but the league, sponsors, players and fans could slowly suffocate him to the point where he has to sell. I doubt free agents will want to sign there while he is owner, sponsors will drop like flies, and ticket sales will most likely be down.

If that is what that means.

PS That girl is a ho, and the taping was underhanded and vile but it opened pandoras box and there is no closing it now. Sterling is effed and for that I say finally, but the tramp doesn't deserve anything good for the type of person she is either.

The recording was supposedly not underhanded and vile. She says he had asked her to record him frequently, and she has over a hundred hours of tape.

Is the "norm" equivalent to what is "morally correct"? Is there a universal morality? or is morality relative? That's a big question, so let's avoid it and just ask the question in the context of your own personal morality... do you think the "norm" is the same as being "morally correct"? I don't know if this makes a difference to you, but slavery used to be the "norm".

Do you agree that she directed that conversation to go where she wanted so it could be on tape? Just wondering.

I don't know. She might have, and in thinking about it now, I hope she did. But at the same time, I also don't care.

Yeah I'm assuming she was the one who was recording the conversation? If I were Sterling and that was the case I would probably have her killed.

Not sure if it's been posted, but this "choose your own adventure" is worth a read:

http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/4/29/5664134/donald-sterling-choose-your-own-cliptastrophe#bounce

It makes light of a serious situation so don't shoot the messenger.
"Easy woman. Easy. Don't make Leo slap you around again. Don't make Leo lay another beating on you. Don't make me call my friend Kobe". It was nice to know that I had not only Leo Rautin's back on this one, but also Kobe Bryant's.

Culture often defines what our morals are.....but I sometimes disagree with the culture and as a student of history I'm very aware of how terribly wrong many cultures have been in the past and even in the present.

Deep down I feel all of us have a sense of what's right and wrong. This can basically be summed up in the idea of doing onto others as you would have done upon yourself.

So no, the "norm" isn't always equivalent to what is "morally correct".

Just so you know, I am a middle aged white guy and my middle aged white wife and my 18 yo daughter have plenty of pictures with black men. My daughter used to date the son of a black Toronto Argonaut.

In fact, you don't have to look very far online to find a picture of my white beautiful wife with Denzel Washington's arm around her.

As I said before in reply to your post, this is what I have a problem with. The circles I associate with do not have this insecure racist mentality that you're saying is the "norm".

I'm not saying you haven't run into people like this, what I'm saying is don't project that onto society as a whole. If I did the same thing you're doing I would reach the opposite conclusion. We would both be wrong. Neither is the norm, both are simply personal experiences. I was hoping you would acknowledge that but it hasn't happened yet.

Some of the defenses of Sterling here are quite mind boggling, especially when you consider his past that has been exposed. Really makes you think.

Well, I can tell you that I think it is painfully obvious she was setting him up to say that so she could use it for her monetary advantage and not for this moral cleansing of a bigot she spent years sucking the dick and syphoning money from.

Now, by me saying that it doesn't mean that now this is out that Sterling shouldn't face the consequences but that girl is still a sad excuse for a human being as well.

I've felt some of the posts don't make sense because the poster is missing information, whether it has to do with Sterling's history or something else around this story. Without knowing the complete picture and context the replies look straight up

Debate is healthy, but don't debate a position without putting in effort to at least absorb the information you're debating.

well.......

I mean....damn you might be right.

Cause I'm well aware of the fact that our internal world often is a reflection (or vice versa) of our external world.

I've spent the past decade living and traveling around the world and I've come to the conclusion that most people in this world are cool. I've also learned that if you're happy inside the world tends to be a happier place.

So perhaps my point of view on this issue is revealing some of my own insecurities. Nonetheless, issues of race, nationality, clans, gangs, ect... run deep in the human psyche.

In fact racism in a sense has been a survival mechanism in some regards.

I hope to be able to take on a more optimistic and idealistic view of the world as I grow older.

But I do think a little realism and skepticism is necessary sometimes to find your setting is the complex and bizarre world.

My prediction is a lifetime ban from attending games, massive fine, and Silver will grant players the right to become free agents. Chris Paul will then either go to New York or the Lakers

You can correct me if I'm wrong, but what I take from what you wrote is that you feel that culture instills some feelings in us (some which may be considered as bigotry), but you also know that those feelings are wrong, so you live by a personal ethical code (the golden rule). Personally, I can totally relate to that.

The issue I guess I'm having is you painting Donald Sterling in the same light as you have described yourself. This is the man who denied a coach of the Clippers cancer treatment to save a few bucks, and has a well documented history of discrimination. Maybe if he didn't have that history, and the only thing we had to go on was that phone conversation, I'd have a bit more sympathy for him, but even that would be a stretch when you look at the things he said. Even if he is a casualty of a demented culture, at this point I'm not throwing him the life preserver.
