really have no idea what to expect from us tomorrow. not a fkn clue. no idea what to expect from the fans either. hopefully they listen to what doc said and come support the team, and whatever they do, do it as one. a staples blackout in the stands would be pretty dope.

commish will speak on 2:00et, 11am pt on espn about what will happen to DTS. im sure this is just part 1 of the whole thing. following silver, kevin johnson will speak on what silver has to say. KJ will be accompanied by former nba players. not sure if this one is televised.

hope we come out with energy and play for each other, all the guys whove put in 8-9 months of busting their ass to try to win a chip. win it for each other. if they come out flat again, i understand, but i hope that isnt the case.

anyway........should be interesting

GO CLIPPS!

Is anyone else going to the game tomorrow? I myself purchased tickets from stubhub last week.

I'll be going in all black but with my Clippers shirt backwards underneath just in case lol

IF Silver does the unthinkable in my mind of firing DTS From the ownership, the clips will win it all this season. book it.

If Silver does that I think he would do, which is some petty fines and restraining order from the arena, we will lose and the season is over by game 6.

our fate, and our team's psych will be on Adam Silver's golden hands.

Snapping Out of the Funk

Post#5 » by Ranma » Tue Apr 29, 2014 6:44 am

I really hope the players got the self-pity out of their system in Game 4. While I understand how distracting and disheartening it is to deal with the whole Sterling fiasco, they're letting it rob them of a viable opportunity at a championship with so many competitive matchups going on in the playoffs at the moment. Griffin and Crawford carried us again while Paul was out (mentally) for most of the last game. We used to talk about not being afraid and welcoming the opportunity to rise to the challenge but now it's somehow acceptable to fold because of the comments of some knucklehead?

Chris Paul previously talked about how he regretted taking for granted that he'd be competing for championships every year after realizing later on how tough and rare it is to be put in that situation, yet for all the praise he garners as one of the game's most driven competitors, he sure hasn't looked like it during the postseason. Would MJ have let this situation take his eyes off the prize? Would Kobe if he were in Paul's position? Of course not, yet CP3 hasn't lived up to his reputation thus far.

I've talked before of how legends like Bill Russell and Jackie Robinson persevered through truly disturbing times and situations. With all due respect, the Clippers don't have it nearly as hard as those two with support from the league, other teams, and fans pulling for something to happen to rid themselves of Sterling. Instead of focusing on the task at hand, they're coming up with ways to further their protest for Game 5 and to address the home crowd. Paul, as president of the NBPA, likely has responsibilities in that capacity pulling him further away as he addresses the Sterling issue.

The one thing Paul and his Clipper teammates seem to have worse than Russell and Robinson is with purported talk of their family not supporting them to play in the games. The point is that the Sterling situation will eventually be handled one way or another, so it is disappointing to see most of them--Blake Griffin excluded--more apt to being distracted by the circus surrounding Sterling's words instead of being focused on the precious opportunity to compete for greatness.

This may seem harsh, but unfortunately, I think tough love is the only way to keep the focus on what needs to be done and I'm afraid Doc and Paul, in particular, do not look to be up to the challenge. I suspect this will be one of the moments Paul will reflect back on in regret that he could have and should have done more towards keeping his mind on the game instead of paying attention to the distractions. Sterling may be to blame for this whole mess, but the players are not absolved from culpability for letting it deflate their will.

In any case, I'll conclude with the words from a true champion set in the proper perspective:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, TIME (4/28/14)
I hope the Clippers continue to be unconditionally supported by their fans. I hope the Clippers realize that the ramblings of an 80-year-old man jealous of his young girlfriend don’t define who they are as individual players or as a team. They aren’t playing for Sterling—they’re playing for themselves, for the fans, for showing the world that neither basketball, nor our American ideals, are defined by a few pathetic men or women.

We better not play.

STRIKE! League wide!
Chris Paul and them should organize a league-wide strike of the games on Tuesday and Wednesday, at the very least.

Sadly I have to work tomorrow so I won't be able to watch the game. This game will mean a lot in the series, I believe the winner of tomorrow's game will win the series. I hope we're the team that comes out on top.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

The crowd will play a huge part tonight. If the players come out and see that everyone's behind them, I'm sure they'll feed off that energy and leave it all on the court.

Last game we had everything going against us and the team still showed some fight. I expect them to be more focused this time since they had a few days to digest the whole situation.

If I were Doc, I would just keep telling the players to go out there as if Sterling is no longer their owner.

It wouldn't hurt to get some reassurances from Adam Silver that this nasty issue will be handled by the league during off season. No way will he make any extreme decision so soon, but he can send some subtle signals that Sterling is on his way out of the NBA.

I'll be at the game with black jeans, a black visor, a black undershirt, and my red Clippers shirt on-top; there are so many good people in the Clippers organization, and I won't disrespect all those good folks by turning my Clippers shirt inside-out or backwards...Sterling is the problem here, not the Clippers.

Tonight the fans of Los Angeles (and around the world) will remind the Clippers players that this team belongs to us; they're playing for us (and of course, for themselves)...that old guy just signs the paychecks.

One way or another, we will be witnessing history tonight; this could be Blake or CP3's "flu game" that we all speak favorably of for the rest of our lives. Or the team could come out lifeless again and this story ends as a tragic tale of one mans bigotry sinking an entire franchise.

I've never read this book before so I have no idea how this story ends; but as fans we get to play a small but significant part in its outcome...and I intend to play my part well.

I don't really have a lot of hope for the rest of the series. I'd love if they united and rallied to an epic victory but hearing Doc speak, it seems that he's already checked out. He's talking about not being sure if he's coming back, about the players not being sure if they want to work (i.e. win) for this owner, etc. I can't say I don't understand them. I wish they took it as "we have to unite together against this by being a team on the court" or some sort, but I can't say I wouldn't have checked out myself in their shoes.

Whatever Silver says today, it's not gonna be "we got rid of Sterling" or anything like it, this is gonna be dragged out for a long time and we'll be months, probably years without being sure if DTS is gonna sell the team or not.

Forgive me for such a bleak vision, but I see nothing but dark things for us and this franchise going forward. Other team's owners are already talking about how to capitalize on our assets in case of a possible implossion of the franchise, like the ruthless hyenas they are.

And to be honest, who really believes this is coincidence that this just happened to be leaked on the most important moment of our franchise history, at the time it'd get the most publicity, and every vehicle for the situation to blow up big has worked perfectly? Not to get my tinfoil hat on, but someone else mentioned in this forum that this is textbook hostile takeover, with DTS's girl being the detonator, and I can kinda see that. If this indeed was planned it's not gonna be a clean changing of hands, they'll probably try to squeeze the franchise dry to make DTS sell at an inferior price, and in the meantime, us fans are gonna be f*cked like we have been for the previous 20+ years.

Whatever, f*ck the NBA.

This 100%

I'm away for all those games and unable to watch other than score updates so a strike on those days would be more than ideal for me.

Realistically though I just wish not one single fan arrived at the stadium.

I'd like to see us take on the Jackie Robinson mentality. Man up and fight through it to victory. He had it a hell of a lot worse than our team does right now a and look what he did.

Stop the 3, dominate the inside on both ends and we'll be fine. DJ played like a little b* last game.

The real statement is to not get your butt handed to you like little b* when you should be fighting through adversity.
