70% possession and getting destroyed. so-called "negative" football wins again vs the beautiful tiki-tika.

not sure who to root for today. I love Atletico and would love them to crush Real's dreams. On the other hand, as much as I despise Mourinho, I think he's more capable of defeating Real.

stuck at work today until 9PM, have the game on DVR. i will have to go into twitter blackout mode at 2:30PM and avoid this thread as well. please, no spoilers elsewhere :)

my prediction, 1-1 with Atletico advancing on away goals.

As a Spaniard I go with the Atleti, also I think they´re doing an incredible season against not only the do big monsters of our football, but also the giants of Europe. They defend great, they always play with heart, passion and hustle and can end up with 10 years of leagues won by both Barça and Real (Last one won by my Valencia, 2003-2004).

And I also hate mourinho

i think atletico has a very good chance to win it all. i will definitely root for them vs real if they win today.

predicted chelsea starting 11

schwarzer
ivanovic, cahill, terry, azpilicueta
luiz, ramires
willian, oscar, hazard (schurrle if hazard doesnt start)
eto'o

much more offensive side for chelsea this leg

that luiz, ramires partnership could be scary. both are a bad habit of stupid fouls and neither is disciplined enough to maintain shape in that role. both play better with a more defensive minded midfield partner like matic or mikel.

willian will run his brains out as usual. oscar needs to have a big game. he has been a little off his best form lately.

Since there is no basketball or football now to look forward to I need someone to give me a team to root for, preferably an underdog team that is on the uprising if thats possible. I hear that money controls everything, literally everything in soccer. Also where can i watch my new favorite team ?

Im a Braves fan, but watching a baseball game for 162 games is insane. I did it when I was younger, but now I only watch past the all star break. God bless anyone who pays attention to baseball for 162 games. An NBA season is exhausting enough,

I could probably get into baseball if NC had a team, although I'd honestly rather have an MLS team. **** ATL

season is almost over. 2 games left in most of the domestic leagues and 1 game left in the champions league.

the champions league final is May 24th between real madrid and atletico madrid. amazing that two teams from the same city are playing for the title. you should definitely watch this game. it is the superbowl of soccer. atletico would be considered the underdog (at least in terms of public perception) in this game (even though they are leading the spanish league this season).

the premier league has two games left and its a race between liverpool and manchester city for the title, with man city in the drivers seat. mathematically chelsea is still alive, but very doubtful.

spanish league has 3 weeks left and its a race between atletico, real madrid and barcelona, in that order.

italian league has 3 weeks left, but its all over, juventus is going to win

german league has a few weeks left, but its pointless. bayern munich is way out in front.

where to watch games?

premier league comes on various NBC channels. do you get NBC sports channel? all but about 4 chelsea games were televised this year for me. its super easy to find streams if you cant get a game.

spanish league comes on bein sports

champions league comes on various fox channels.

german league comes on goltv.

you also can watch MLS games on espn and other places. MLS, plays during the summer, unlike the rest of the world, because we are americans and we'll be god damned if we are following the rest of the world and their metric system and celsius.

soccer in the summer time is all about the national teams. this summer we have the world cup in june, thank god. other summers there is world cup qualifying, euro cup, gold cup etc...

most domestic leagues start back up in mid august, with lots of friendlies being played in july.

i would recommend the premier league. its easy to access on tv here in the US and generally is a little more competitive than the spanish league which is almost always a two team league (barcelona and real madrid - this year is the outlier). but like you said, money rules soccer. the big teams have it and the little teams dont. there is little point in rooting for a small, poor club, unless you have a connection to the area. they will never win anything and you will always be watching your best players being sold to bigger clubs. europe soccer is the one time its OK to be a frontrunner for a US fan that has no geographic connection to any team.

pick one of manchester united, manchester city, liverpool, arsenal, chelsea, tottenham or everton and just go with it.

you can decide like that what team to follow?
my advice: watch games, find out which teams play the way you like, which players you like, then follow them

borussia dortmund is definitely fun to watch. i didnt suggest a german team since most small cable providers dont have goltv and even then goltv only shows a couple of bundesliga games a week. whereas, just about every premier league game is easily seen in the US, especially for the big 6-7 clubs. but if you can get goltv, then german league would be a good place to find a new team. i cant imagine bayern will walk away with the league as easily next year, right?

as Fats said the domestic league seasons are almost over. If I were you, I would rather concentrate on the upcoming World Cup.

i really want to see Belgium do well at the world cup. i think they could be really good and fun to watch if they can gel as a team. they have all the pieces on paper to make a deep run.
