Re: The Trade Thread
I'd rather keep the pick than use it to get MKG, even if it means unloading JSmoove. MKG is offensively challenged, and KCP has already shown the ability to play very good defense which is MKG's main strength, and KCP can also shoot.

The Bulls aren't guaranteed to amnesty Boozer--they'll do so only if they think they have a realistic chance at Melo or another significant FA. Otherwise they'll probably try to trade him or else just roll with him next season. I think they feel like they can wait on Mirotic one more year, and they don't want to sign or trade for a guy who doesn't decisively make them better (like Deng or Stephenson--not sure either pushes them over the top). The front office is patient and Reinsdorf is cheap, so they value flexibility and don't like the idea of throwing money out to mid-level players. So that means I doubt they'd be interested in Smith and Jennings at this point, and they might value Boozer as an expiring next year rather than as an amnesty guy this year.
I find it hard to believe that they'd go into next season with boozer on the roster. gibson has proven himself far more valuable and is much cheaper. even a few role players like stuckey and a good backup center would drastically improve their team, let alone melo or another significant FA.

MKG is not worth a lotto pick. It would make more sense to swap wallace's contract for smith and move up in the draft. Wallace and MKG are essentially the same player

No
Maybe Jennings+filler for Williams make some sense, but Jennings+Smith for Williams isn't fair value in-return for us.

Re: The Trade Thread
Smith to the Lakers in a sign and trade for Gasol
Gasol provides minutes at C/PF off the bench and can mentor our 2 young bigs.
Individual D isn't great but it's all about team D.
Drummond, Monroe, Gasol, Jorts and Mitchell would be the only players to get any minutes at C or PF next season.
Gaining a C/PF for Smith in a S&T allows us to spend money on the perimeter.
If I couldn't trade Smith I'd look to sign Aminu or Hawes...depending on $$$

I'd bet Gasol would want to go somewhere he can start, but Monroe and Drummond definitely need to a veteran to share playing time with.

Gasol is too old and he won't fit well playing next to Monroe. Both aren't great defenders and both are nonathletic.

With all due respect Pharaoh, Aminu and Hawes are down-grades compared Smith.

Re: The Trade Thread
How about sending Josh Smith to HOU for Omer Asik expiring contract and HOU's 1st round pick on a Sign-and-Release? (Like PHI did with Turner and Granger)
After watching their playoff series I can see them looking for a defensive PF that can guard the likes of L. Aldridge and K. Love. They will get that with Smith and you'll be reuniting Howard with his old AAU teammate.
Omer Asik has already came out and said that he wants to be a starting C for a NBA team next year. So releasing him and letting him sign with another team will give us some much needed cap space to sign a free agent SF to replace Smith.

Not downgrading anyone since we'd be signing Hawes or Aminu
Hawes is probably the better target due to his outside shooting.

Re: The Trade Thread
d-will for smennings is easily the best thing that could ever happen, but I doubt that brooklyn would give up on their franchise player. could you imagine trading for williams and drafting aaron gordon? That'd be hellasickdopenastyphatstupid

Smith would need to be included as well. Williams has a really bad contract at like 20 mil per. Which would be like both they're salaries in one player. But we would be a much better team getting rid of the two biggest chuckers in the league.

smennings = smith + jennings lol but I agree, we would be a much better team. williams >>>> jennings, and getting smith off the team in and of itself is addition by subtraction.
Williams' contract is bad, but he'd get a much better chance to play up to it here. I like his chances of playing up to his contract way more than smennings.

That sounds like a fair trade. Can we get creative and do a three-team trade and get more value?
Pistons get: Green, Houston's 1st rounder
Celtics get: Asik
Rockets get: Smith

True. Sorry about the reading mistake, my eyes were half-way open last night.
I would still question whether a defensive big would be a better fit next to Monroe. His defensive liabilities leaves us soft when he switches to the 5 position.

Right now Brooklyn would do the deal Williams is being abused by Lowry and KG is playing 20 minutes a game and it would reunite Johnson and Smith. It is actually a good deal for both teams Detroit might be able to get Plumlee in the deal as a back-up C.

No interest in D-Will. If he was traded to Detroit, I would expect him to sleep walk through the seasons until his contract ran out. They can barely keep him motivated in Brooklyn.
