Re: Sixers fans big board: Pick #12 (POLL)
From DraftExpress in reference to Kyle Anderson:
"Will a NBA head coach be willing to just hand the reigns of their team over to him and scrap everything else they've been doing to conform to his style of play? Can he be successful otherwise? If he doesn't get handed the keys to his NBA team's offense, will he be willing to adjust his style of play, or will he demand to be traded? That could be heavily dependent on how high he's drafted, even though the last similar case we can recall, Evan Turner, was picked very high and still was forced to change his game."
So can we all now agree that Anderson should be nowhere near the Sixers?

Not really. Because their games are nothing alike.

Really? For full disclosure, I didn't watch UCLA play at all this year other than their last tournament game against Florida, so I will throw out anything I think I saw due to small sample size and just go by this review. If you tell me they're different, I'm willing to listen.

I can see how someone can believe that Kyle Anderson is the same as Evan Turner, if you don't watch them. For me, other than significant size difference, it is their instincts on offense. Evan Turner dribbles to create his OWN shot, and passes as a last resort, if he can't get to his spot. Kyle Anderson is a distributer 1st, and only shoots jumpers when he is left wide open.
If I were to compare Kyle Anderson to a disappointing player, I would say he is closer to John Salmons than Evan Turner. But I see him closer to Jalen Rose than Salmons.

Re: Sixers fans big board: Pick #12 (POLL)
I think it's pretty obvious that nobody is making a direct comparison. They do share some common traits that should give you cause to pause.
- They both are sub-par athletically.
- The value of both players is significantly less when they don't have frequent ball handling opportunities, yet neither player is good enough offensively to warrant high possession handling.
- Both players have shooting inconsistencies.
Obviously Anderson has something that Evan doesn't (length), but those traits are likely to lead him to some of the same struggles Evan faces.

I went with Stauskas of the options remaining. However, I don't like the majority of guys on the list.

I see a 6'9 player that everyone looks at as slower than everybody else in the world because he is playing PG. We're used to seeing small PGs, who move faster. But he is not going to play PG in the NBA.
If Jabari Parker was playing PG, he would look just like Kyle Anderson... Slow. In the NBA, they'll be playing the same position, high post SF/PF. With Anderson being longer, a better passer and a better ball handler.
Agreed. I actually think he will be better suited at SF in the NBA than PG in college. Parker and Anderson are very similar athletically; however, Anderson is a much better point forward. IMHO, you can never have enough ball handlers. Coupled with MCW + (Wiggins/Other First Pick Choice) + Noel, that is a killer team in transition.

I am a little surprised we haven't had any votes for TJ Warren yet. He would fit the Sixers fast pace and he gets his points in the flow of the game. His DX tape knocks him for inconsistent shooting, perimeter D (although his steals rate is high) and because he's a "Tweener." He could be electric off the bench and worthy of consideration in the middle of the first round.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Can we add Rodney Hood to the list? SF is a need as well as shooting, I think he could grow into a strong defender as well given his length and athleticism.
He would be my pick over the options on the board

Keep in mind that his length is actually pretty unimpressive (as was his defense at Duke). His wingspan is pretty poor given his height. He is an excellent shooter, though.

Re: Sixers fans big board: Pick #12 (POLL)
I'm admittedly a fan of Kyle Anderson's game. I'm not quite as concerned as most are about his pedestrian athleticism. He plays the game mentally about as well as anyone in the draft and knows how to compensate for his deficiencies. I definitely think he can flourish in a 6th man role and I'm confident that BB can find a way to make him effective without being such a high-usage guy.
I can also see the advantages in taking Stauskas and Harris here. You have a proficient shooter in Stauskas who can also facilitate an offense, and you've got a good shooter/scorer in Harris who's a more than capable defender.

McBuckets…got get McBuckets.
He's the guy who could surprise and actually be a highly productive regular. You just don't know how he'll score in the NBA when he's not the focus of the other team's defense.

He wont be a focus of any team defense, because in the NBA they'll put One (1) guy on him that's bigger, stronger and faster, that won't give him any space to get a shot.

I'm really warming up to the idea of picking Staukas at 10. I will never be on board with McDermott.

^^^^ Stauskas is the better prospect and it isn't close.

Okay McDermott and Stauskas runoff.
