If they become available: Scott Brooks

Available now: Jeff Van Gundy, Mario Elie, Sam Cassell
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

I'll go with Thibs if he's a available. Apparently he studies the game like crazy and has good situational awareness.

Are there rumors of Thibs being available? Obviously he'd be a priority then.

Dwight + SVG reunion?

Shouldn't we wait until its announced we are looking for a new coach? But on a side not I'll vote for Sloan even though I think it's highly unrealistic, I'd just like to be able win a ring and laugh at Utah...

~lol~ Interesting idea but waaaaaaayyyyyyy too risky.

Clifford became an NBA assistant coach with the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets under Jeff Van Gundy and quickly developed a reputation as a defensive expert. He then was an assistant for Stan Van Gundy with the Orlando Magic.

Either of the Van Gundy would be nice. As someone has noted, after MDA and McHale, Dwight probably has a much better appreciation for SVG.

MDA??!! No.6!? So Chicago isn't that good......but we are the worst! ~lol~

Thibs is good of course but not likely. Same with Doc, not a big fan anyways. Sloan is the man for me; if the guys can take it (much more likely after McHale and first round exit), sure fire championship contender, plays both ways, discipline for Harden, PnR for Dwight, teach Lin how to play PG, turn Asik into Ostertag  , improve Parsons all around. Hope he can work with Morey and Hakeem; that's a bit tricky.

Indeed we do need a better coach desperately, I'd prefer someone who's tough on lazy players and rewards the hardworking ones and can develop our players especially Lin and Asik. Howard's done developing, dude just wants to cruise and gets his $88 million. Harden needs to go the D league to remember what it's like to appreciate being in the NBA where you actually have to work hard to be successful. Actually I would be happy if both were traded so that we can become a blue collar running team that's exciting to watch again.
* Since 1985, Jeremy Lin became one of 15 players to have scored at least 20 points, seven assists and a steal for six games in a row, including 136 points in 5 starts beating out Iverson, Jordan and O'Neal :D

Relevant situation in LA:

Lakers Interested In Tom Thibodeau
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... -Thibodeau

The Los Angeles Lakers plan to reach out to the Chicago Bulls for permission to interview Tom Thibodeau.

Thibodeau is under contract with the Bulls until 2017.

The bulls are putting out word that Thibodeau is not available, though compensation could be agreed upon between the teams similar to how the Los Angeles Clippers were able to enter into a contract with Doc Rivers last June.

Lakers To Interview Karl, Jeff Van Gundy, Scott, Rambis
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... ott-Rambis

The Los Angeles Lakers will interview George Karl, Jeff Van Gundy, Byron Scott and Kurt Rambis for their head coaching vacancy.

The Lakers appear to not be in a rush in replacing Mike D'Antoni.

John Calipari and Kevin Ollie will also receive interest from the Lakers.

No Jerry and SVG.

I don't know if Howard will be happy though, he does not like stan van Gundy. Even if Jeff Van gundy coaches the team, Howard will still probably feel uncomfortable because Jeff and Stan are related.

It's tough. I tend to not like the whole recycling of old coaches merry-go-around that happens in the NBA, but I'm not so sure the players would be keen bringing in a younger coach w/o the cred so to speak.

Regardless though I've always said our issue is defense, so Thibs, JVG, SVG, Hollins, Rivers, those would be my choices, with Thibs being the optimal candidate. I would stay the hell away from Karl, MDA, and Adelman. I don't think Sloan is going to coach anymore, plus I don't see his personality jiving with Howard and Harden.

I wouldn't mind giving McHale another year either. I think he's fine as long as you have a very robust assistant coaching staff behind him. Losing Sampson was a lot bigger deal than people realize IMO.

So any great assistant coaches out there? Laurence Frank? McMillan?

I vote Hollins, Rivers and JVG. also would like Thibs and Ellie but I am just baffled by the return of McFail.

Really want Hollins or JVG
