I would have left Stroman pitch both innings with a five point lead, but meh, a win is a win.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Same here. Give the kid some innings and some confidence to close out the game.

Can anybody tell me how McGowan looked? Was at the Raptors game. Looks like he did pretty well, although it may have been like his other "good" start where he was hit hard and had little command.

Seems to be the Jays pattern. Squander a pair of winnable games, then take season series finale. That's .333 stuff.

He looked good Randle. Had the Pirates batters guessing all game. Great fastball today and very good control. 101 pitches over 7 innings which is a season high for him. The Pirates managed just three hits and three walks. He struck out five.

Thanks. Guess you can't end that experiment yet after all. I'll try to catch Jays in 30 later.

Rasmus is heating up! Grand slam today. 6 hits in his last 4 games to go with 3 HR's and 9 RBI's. Not too shabby!!

what a miracle that we're only 2.5 games back of the division.

Yet another example of why one shouldn't pay attention so much to April numbers. Both Lawrie and Rasmus are hitting now.

Rasmus is a streaky hitter. We can't claim that this past week is what we can expect from him for the rest of the season and longer (if signed to an extension). Let's just see how long his hot vs cold streaks last this year.

He's also a career .753 OPS hitter. Unless your expectations for him are unreasonable (like, say, a repeat of his great 2013), he likely won't disappoint. I'd rather not even get my hopes up about an extension, though.
