Re: QB Prospect Thread
I'd just take Bridgewater. I don't think we should trade back if there's a QB we like, just take our guy.

so my question is: if all three qbs (bridgewater, bortles and manziel) are there at 8, what do the vikings do? do they take their favorite of the three, trade back and still get one because they don't really favor one over another or defense and go for qb later?
Here's how my final teamless mock (always my most accurate one in terms of player/slot) has the QBs:
Manziel 7th
Carr 8th
Bortles 26th
Bridgewater 30th
Carr to the Vikings is a very real possibility.
very interesting, i still don't know enough about carr but if bortles is there at 8 i'll be sad if they pass on him

I don't have the link but espn did a great article comparing the top qbs. Bridgewater had a 71% completion rate and it was the same against the blitz! Johnny was a good pocket passer but struggled against the blitz. Brotles had the highest yards per rush and had a much lower completion percentage than either of those two.

PLEASE DRAFT BRIDGEWATER! I've never wanted the Vikings to draft a guy more.

Thanks for posting that! I guess Brotles wasn't as bad as I thought. My qb rankings for us are 1. Bridgewater 2. Manziel 3. Brotles 4. Carr. I put Manziel ahead of Brotles because Brotles probably isn't as NFL ready (but who knows) and Manziel appears to have that "it" factor.

Re: QB Prospect Thread
I dont have a good feeling about Bortles, I think he has a decent chance to disappoint, I'd still be okay with the Vikings drafting him because we need a quarterback so badly. But I really think that Bridgewater will be a franchise guy if we draft him.

Re: QB Prospect Thread
Bridgewater for me. JF will more than likely be gone so we won't have to worry about selecting him or passing on him. I'd take Bortles over Carr but don't like either QB.

Re: QB Prospect Thread
On one side, Brotles really came out of nowhere and became a top 10 pick in an instant. On the other hand, if we actually let him sit a year and develop him, it could pay off. Currently he has the least amount of football experience. I like the potential but I see more of a bust. The worst part about drafting him would be having to wait a year to watch him play. There has also been a lot of buzz about him to vikings and the vikings liking him, but I'm calling smokescreen. Found myself thinking the chances of drafting him are increasing each week, but that's what perfect smokescreens do. Bridgewater for me please! Or, Mack if he falls and Donald.

Least amount of football experience? By what measure?

Re: QB Prospect Thread
i'm not really sure, i've talked about my hesitance toward manziel before but its tough to decide between bortles and bridgewater. i'd be alright with teddy because he seems like he could be really good but from everything i've read bortles seems to fall lock-step in with the type of qbs that norv has run with in the past - the big, tall pocket passer. if we take blake and sit him for a year (or even part of one) behind cassel and let him learn the ropes we could really have something - norv has been known to work some wonders on offense (when he's not the head coach)
the alliteration is part of it too

Didn't start in high school right away and then got beat out and had to win the starting qb job at UCF. Overall, less experience playing high-level football compared to other prospects.Worm Guts wrote:Least amount of football experience? By what measure?

Bortles played in more games in college than Manziel, and not far off from Bridgewater.

Re: QB Prospect Thread
Manziel's competition was stronger than Brotles. Also Brotles mentioned he has never really had a qb trainer/coach. Even if his experience is similar to others then how can one explain why his skills are lower?

I haven't read specifically that Bortles has less skills or needs the most development, although I have seen things that could be interpreted that way. Honestly, when they start getting into the specifics of passing mechanics it's a little over my head.

I'd rather get Aaron Murray in the 2nd over Bortles and Carr.
