THE SKINNY

Round 1 is over. Round 2 approaches quickly against a rested Washington Wizards team coming off a convincing 4-1 victory over the Chicago Bulls. After clinching their own semifinals berth in Game 7 against the Hawks, the Indiana Pacers look to start off this series on the right foot. Is Blue Collar Gold Swagger finally back? Or will John Wall and company compound the myriad doubts swirling about this recently maligned squad?
THE LINEUPS

Point Guard

The toughest matchup in the series for anyone guarding him will be John Wall. Wall, like Derrick Rose before him, has developed a legitimate 3-point shot, sinking more than 100 of his attempts at 35%. He's even better than Teague, and can potentially make the Pacers look like a bad defensive team when he disrupts the defense with his prototypical point guard skills. Expect to see Paul George spending some time checking him.
Shooting Guard

Bradley Beal is another tough matchup due to his shooting stroke, but there are a few holes to his game. If Lance Stephenson can punish him on the other end of the court with his size advantage, and if Beal is made to put the ball on the floor, his dynamic shooting would be much less of an issue. Expect to see George Hill slide over to check Beal.
Small Forward

Paul George has been a true leader thus far in the playoffs, being the only Pacer to play consistently in the first round, capping it off with a 30-point performance in the final game. Trevor Ariza is a huge spacer, with more than half of his attempts coming from beyond the arc where he shoots above 40%. Once he's run off the three-point line, his shot is much worse. He was 20% from the 10-16 ft. range out this season.
Power Forward

As a more conventional big man, Nene will be able to be defended more straight-up by the Pacer's interior players. He is an effective jump shooter as well as a post-up threat, but that's much more in David West's wheelhouse.
Center

Roy Hibbert is coming off his first effective performance of the postseason and it couldn't have come at a better time. The scrutiny will only continue, so hopefully he can build upon Game 7 (where he outperformed his season averages) and allow everyone else to see why Vogel continues to have such faith in him.
THE BENCH

Ian and CJ Watson have been coming up big for the Pacers. It remains to be seen if Turner and Scola return to the rotation, but given their skillsets they'll probably get the nod. The Washington bench has a good amount of
THE COACHES

Frank Vogel's policy of keeping the media stuff outside of the locker room paid off as he got a decisive Game 7 performance while playing Big Roy for more than 31 minutes in Game 7 of a series where everyone (including yours truly) had deemed the struggling center useless against the Hawks. Expect to see more on-court adjustments over personnel changes in this series.
THE INJURY REPORT

Wizards
None.
THE HEAVY MATTERS

-Play all 48 minutes of fun, intense basketball.
-Box out and board. This Wizards team has good rebounders besides just their bigs.
-Stay aggressive. Get with the crowd and don't spend too much time feeling like the calls aren't going your way.
