Since nobody else has got this going yet and game time is a few hours away. You get a crappy series thread.

Looking at the numbers, it's clear that Chris Getz will need to maintain his 1.667 OPS vs Hamels & Kendrick for the Jays to win this series.

Worth noting
• Former All-Star closer Joel Hanrahan on Friday signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Tigers. He is recovering from Tommy John surgery but could be ready to pitch by June. The Phillies need bullpen help, but Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. on Sunday would only say that they contacted Hanrahan's agent.

• Cole Hamels pitches Tuesday against the Blue Jays. He had been scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Nationals but was scratched because of the flu.

• Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista has reached base in all of Toronto's 31 games this season. That's the longest streak to begin a year since Cincinnati's Joey Votto accomplished the feat in 2011 over 33 games.

• The Blue Jays' bullpen entered play on Sunday with the second-worst WHIP in the Major Leagues at 1.56. They also had the second-worst walks per nine innings with 4.98 and the fifth-worst home run total of 12. Last year, Toronto had the ninth-lowest WHIP (1.23).

Looks good to me bud!

Thanks for making the game thread. I was told we would alternate depending on and if the Jays win a series. If they win then that same person who created the original game thread would do the same for the next series. Maybe that somehow will bring some good luck and continue the Jays winning ways. :D

That's my understanding on how this works here. Mods please correct me if I'm wrong.

Last minute game threads at the beginning of May? Feels like September already.

Looks like two guys that Reyes has done really well against in the past. Maybe a break-out series for him I hope.

This is a 4-game home/home series FYI.

Is it too early to get Happ out of there?

I can't believe Lawrie continues to play 2nd base...

Three walks and three hits in three innings. Happ has been lucky so far. Thank goodness for Ryan Howard.

It's not entirely luck when you've got a team full of injury prone players. You just have to be prepared and have the bench depth ready to deal with those losses (which the Jays don't have at all).

How these guys pull hamstrings just running down first base line is beyond me. Aren't they well conditioned athletes? Ridiculous.

Happens all the time to athletes, even great ones. Just watch some 100M races with some of the world's best and you'll see it there too.

Seems like a fluke that's the result of a hot streak.
