Yep, agreed. Looks like Idzik really does believe that because there's so many WR's in this draft that he can get a potential impact one later...let's hope.

Well Pryor's definitely a hard hitter that's for sure (which fits the Jets defensively). And looks like he can pretty much do everything (help against the run, fall back coverage, chase down in the secondary, etc). Very rangy, long arms and a thick base (which probably contributes to how he can hit so hard).

I would still preferred Denard or Cooks but I'm beginning to like this pick.

Yeah, when Cooks was available, I assumed we were going with him. Cooks measures out as Tavon Austin part 2 and the Jets LOVED the kid. I'm reading some news on the pick and it seems that the Jets choice was impacted by how Seattle's defense dominated with two hard nosed Safeties...blah, blah, blah Chancellor hit Thomas in the Superbowl. I'm not sure that I love the reasoning but Pryor is definitely a Rex type of player and might sure up all the missed tackles we were having last season.

I don't hate the pick...but now I'm nervous. Patterson is probably locked in as a starter at CB because we didn't address it (how long he stays healthy is the real problem). I really want Amaro in this round and we need a CB soon...WR could become the one we reach on in the fourth, and if that's the case my guess is that Idzik really sees Decker as a number one

i would have preferred cooks / dennard but i wasn't thrilled about any of those picks, it was odell beckham that i really wanted. so i guess pryor is ok as long as the jets address the offense in the 2nd/3rd rounds

 Yeah, that or he believes that Chris Johnson can actually return to being CJ2K and carry the offense out of the backfield...which is probably even crazier than expecting Decker to be a number one.

Milliner is going to have to really have a great season for the Jets to make due with Patterson as the guy opposite Milliner. Not much left in the way of free agent CB's...and none that would be considered a top tier CB that is still in their prime. The best 2 free agents are probably Dunta Robinson (32) and Asante Samuel (33). Maybe the Jets can stop gap by signing one of them for a year. Not sure. But there aren't much in the way of anything out there with Idzik failing to bring back Revis, failing to sign DCR, etc.

Hopefully they can find a gem at CB at some point in this draft. There are a couple of guys with great physical packages and upside at CB but none that scream "pick me, I'm better than Patterson" left.

Brandin Cooks is more DeSean Jackson 2.0...at least that's what a lot of scouts have compared Cooks to.

I have wanted Cooks for months so naturally I was pretty disappointed we didn't pick him up. But it's really hard to be upset about this pick. One of my favorite things about Pryor is he is a playmaker, he's not just a hard-hitter like the broadcast made him out to be. Do some homework and you'll see he can play all over the field, and HAS played all over the field. I have a feeling he's going to be a fan favorite in his first few years, especially the first time he takes off some receiver's head.

What sold me on him was right after the pick, a few ESPN analysts tweeted out some scout/GM reports on him and almost all of them talked about how he is a great locker room guy with potential to lead a defense. That's so so important and we sorely lacked someone who even had the potential to be that. High-class guys, high-character guys... the Idzik era is pretty cool.

As for WR, we have options. I like Matthews' size a lot. I think Geno needs a big guy who can go get it. I liked Beckham but like I said Cooks was my first choice. Sidenote, how is Eli gonna get Beckham the ball? They basically replaced Nicks with a rookie and didn't address the two biggest needs on the team. Beckham is a good player, I'm just not quite sure he made sense for the Giants. Either way, the Jets can address WR and TE tonight and still end up with quality at each position. We have tons of day 3 picks, so I would love to package some and move up to grab the guys we really want.

I'm gonna take an optimistic outlook and assume that Idzik is gonna find a trade partner to bring in a decent CB. I like Milliner to become something this season at least. I really can't help but think Idzik dropped the ball on Revis dammit. Even after the draft guys sign, we'll be sitting on like 17 million dollars in cap space :noway:

Yeah same here. I would hope the next 3 picks will be used on some combination of WR/CB/TE.

My guess is that the next pick will be a TE. There are at least 3 right now that are still on the board that projected to be bottom 1st to mid/late-2nd on a lot of mocks (Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Jace Amaro and Troy Niklas).

Seferian-Jenkins is probably the best receiver of the group and at 6'6" and near 265lb he's one big target with big hands and long arms. Not the best blocker though and not the most physical guy (despite his size), which may work against him as I suspect that Rex Ryan will want his TE to be able to block as well.

Jace Amaro is probably the most aggressive of the group and his playing style probably fits Ryans best.

Niklas can end up being the best of the bunch and physically at 6'7" and 270lb (and having started his college career as a LB) with great upside, could turn into a matchup nightmare if he can refine his game but has only been playing the position a couple years. And he's got great bloodlines (he's the blood cousin of the 6th overall pick Jake Matthews and nephew of former NFL pro-bowler Bruce Matthews) so you know he's been living and breathing football since he was young. And considering he started out as a LB you know he can hit and play physical.

I would imagine a big TE that can not only catch passes but that can be used as an extra blocker would be ideal to help the Jets running game as well as give more room for both Vick and Geno Smith to work and range.

There's more depth at WR in this draft so they can wait another round or so.

Giants have a lot of needs. Another playmaker on offense was one. With McAdoo coming from GB and taking over, sounds like they are shifting to more of a quick passing, west coast system instead of the traditional Giants power running game. They will run a lot of 3 WR sets like GB so he fits as a potential #2 in between Cruz and Randall who seems to be more of a #3 wr.

Hopefully they can shore up the o-line next.

There's a couple lineman that may be fits (Antonio "Tiny" Richardson and Morgan Moses are two big, powerful, mobile guys that you can probably move around on the O-Line)...but the Giants also need a TE (just like the Jets) and I wouldn't be surprised if they go for one with their 2nd round pick.

Yeah, I could see either one. Reese will probably go with whoever he feels is the BPA as usual. TEs can take some time to develop so I don’t know if that would even plug the hole immediately.

I keep waiting for the Giants to sign someone at TE. They could be waiting to see if Jermichael Finley is cleared although it doesn’t seem like something you want to rely on. That dude Adrien Robinson has been hyped up too but hasn’t been able to get on the field. Maybe they believe he is ready. Could be a sleeper.

I love the Calvin Pryor pick. This kid will contribute from Day 1. We are solidifying our defense. With the depth or receivers/ tight ends in the second round, we can now attend to our offensive needs. I see us drafting Jace Amaro or Cody Lattimer next.

Pryor - 21
Milliner - 22
Coples - 23
Richardson - 23
Wilkerson - 24
Davis - 25

That's a whole lot of youth on defense, and 4 of those guys are already major players in a defense that was elite against the run.

Really needs Coples to improve at OLB though. He's got the talent but he has to put it together. If he's pressuring QB's along with Wilkerson and Richardson, we'll be in great shape. Still need a number 2 CB too...desperately.

Oh we're far from flawless but we are in way way better shape than most teams. Coples was in the backfield every damn play last year it seemed. He just needs to turn it up and get to the QB. He was GREAT against the run.
