Moving forward would love to see a ILB (Borland) in the 2nd and WR&TE addressed in the 3rd, or trading up into the 2nd if ASF and Borland are still avail mid/late.

I am trying to remember If Ted has ever drafted a Badger....

Off the top of my head Taucher is the only one that comes to mind and played for any longevity.

I don't believe so. I don't think we've drafted one since Tauscher and that was before TT was the
GM.

Absolutely love the pick. He's the guy that I wanted all along and I'm pretty thankful that he fell all the way to us at #21. Awesome.

If he pans out, all of a sudden, our secondary is a pretty big strength.

I still have resentment when we took T-Buck over Troy....

To be fair there are lots of schools Ted has never drafted a player from, I don't think what school the kid went to is a huge factor in determining who you pick.

This is true but the homer in all of us pulls for players we loved to watch in CF and it sucks having to see them on teams I dislike or are just terrible ala' Joe Thomas & Montee Ball.

Someone drafted Bill Ferraro an OL never played a down, think he was after Tausher. I know Wolf regrets not raking Vincent either.

There are at least four Badgers that could fit a need this year in Borland, Abbrederis, Allen, and Pedersen. Wouldn't be shocked to see one of them become a Packer.

Possibly Allen in the 7th rd

El Duderino wrote:Obviously safeties today need to have a certain level of speed to succeed with all of the passing, but instincts are also so important. We all saw last year both of Burnett and Jennings blow numerous coverages not because they lacked the speed to break up passes thrown, instead they read things wrong and thus were to slow in reacting to what was happening.

Guys like Woodson and Butler managed to still be productive even after losing some of their speed simply because they were able to quickly diagnose what was happening and immediately react, something both of our athletic safeties last year were terrible at doing.

I don't expect Nix to be special, but if he can become an above average safety, that's good value at 21.

Yep, Jurius Byrd just got a 6yr/56m $ contract , he ran a 4.68..... speed at safety is a bit over rated. Instincts are everything.

I agree. Beau is really the only Badger I'm interested in. I love Borland as a college player. Pedersen is an UDFA imho. I'm scared as hell of Abbrederis' concussions and frail body - see Amendola and exit stage left, I say...particularly given the depth across the board. This being said, I think Abbrederis would look mighty fine in a Rams uni :)

Watched the draft with a friend and he says, "I don't like safeties in the first round, would have rather waited and got a lesser safety like Deone Bucannon in the second."

Had we did that, which is still foolish, we miss out on both.

This morning on 1250 Chuck asked why Clinton Dix won't just wear #6 since he did in college.....

I've been watching some game tape on HCD. He seems more naturally suited as free safety than someone in the box. He can be physical, but I like his ability to scan the QB and make solid reads. I just wonder if he's got enough closing speed. He seemed to be a step slow sometimes.

I think we need a free safety more than a strong safety. Morgan Burnett had play after play that other safeties make. He had a lot of balls thrown right in front of him and showed no ability to break on them whatsoever. I think we will move Burnett into the box and try to let Clinton-Dix prove he is a player with good instincts.
