Texans want to make everything greasy... I miss that grilled Baja Style Mexican.

and add a **** load of cheese in everything. Only good Mexican in Texas is in up-scale joints or random places in neighborhoods you don;t want to visit.

There's a taco place near my house that's always got people lining up right into the street. They better be sprinkling crack on that meat.

And that's not an indication of good food necessarily either... There's a couple places like that here too and they all suck... There's just no accounting for taste...

I pretty much stick with Freebirds here...

Its got some cult following amongst the hipsters here.

THE BEST TACOS IN HOUSTON.

I think about this place when I wake up, during the day, and when I go to sleep.

Get the trailer park - make it trashy (add cheese). You will not regret it. Also, make sure to start out your fab meal with chips and queso. This is not diet day ppl.

and its kind of legendary on yelp.

Yeah we have a couple of those here too... They're alright, but they're super expensive for what you get.

I only ate at a couple of places while in Austin, one was Clay Pit in downtown, which had a nice buffet and another a pretty expensive place on 6th street where I ordered a sangria and an entree that cost me $30 and the portion size was likely not enough to feed a 6 year old.

I did end up going to Franklin's BBQ which made my trip really. Too bad my friend moved to San Jose from AMD or else I'd be down there atleast once a month.

Yep. Austin can be pretty expensive. The Clay Pot sounds like a good place from all I've heard. I'll have to check it out.

I don't mind the price but I really get irked when the portion sizes are not sufficient. I also did partake in some green in Austin, which was pretty nice quality for Texas stuff.

also a modern burrito as we know it. Was created in California in the 1900's so it's not really Mexican,
