Adams is a third-year sophomore and a two-year starter at Fresno. In only two years, he has put up unbelievable numbers. In 2012, he caught 102 passes for 1312 yards and 10 TDs. This year, he upped his production to 131 catches for 1718 yards and 24 TDs. Adams' physical traits are the similar to many of the productive, big receivers in the NFL, he is listed at being 6-2, 212 and looks bigger because of his long arms. He is a very good athlete with good play speed. Watching tape, Adams is not asked to run a large variety of routes. He runs mostly bubble screens, go's and comebacks. He will occasionally run a slant. He is not a precise route runner and can get sloppy. While he can make sharp cuts, he doesn't do it consistently. He has a burst to get separation. What he does do, is use his size and body very well. He has great length and a huge receiving radius. He has the strength to shield defenders and the jumping ability to go up and get it. While he will double-catch some balls, he shows the ability to snatch the ball. I would grade his hands as very good. He also is excellent at adjusting to the ball and has made numerous "circus" catches. After the catch, Adams is a strong runner. He has both power and a burst and can make the first man miss. As a blocker, he is willing, but the results are inconsistent. Overall, Adams is still a raw "work in progress." He hasn't begun to reach the level of receiver he can be. It's all in front of him, and he has the physical traits to become an excellent NFL receiver. He will need time to develop, but the team that drafts him will look at what he can be, not what he is. For that reason, it wouldn't surprise me to see him drafted in the first, but right now, I see him as a guy that could go anywhere from the bottom third of the first to the top third of the second round. In other words, a 20-to-40 guy.

Over 3000 yards as a freshman and sophomore. Unreal.

He's a WR drafted by TT in the second round. Good enough for me.

The Green Bay Packers are restocking Aaron Rodgers' weapons after losing Jermichael Finley, James Jones and Greg Jennings over the past two years.

The Packers selected Fresno State wide receiver Davonte Adams with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Hauling in passes from Derek Carr, Adams led the nation in receptions (131) and touchdown catches (24) as a redshirt sophomore in 2013. He possesses good size at 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds, but offers underwhelming speed.

Michael Crabtree (41) is the only player with more receiving touchdowns in a two-year span during the Bowl Championship Series era.

Adams profiles as a poor man's Anquan Boldin, which makes him the perfect replacement for James Jones, who was similarly billed for his size, leaping ability and run-after-catch skills entering the league.

If Ted Thompson's record is any indication, Adams will be a steal. The Packers last three second-round receivers were Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings.

Coach Mike McCarthy is sky-high on No. 3 receiver Jarrett Boykin, which means Adams can be eased into the offense as a rookie.

Those are some ridiculous numbers. Just ridiculous. I think I love this pick.

I really wanted Cody Latimer, but I am never going to question TT when it comes to WRs.

Not gonna lie, I had absolutely no idea who he was 5 minutes ago. Weird, given his insane production.

He may be the first Bay Area player chosen in this week's NFL draft, but Fresno State wide receiver Davante Adams didn't even take up the sport seriously until his junior season at Palo Alto High.

"I broke my arm in Pop Warner and just gave it some time to heal," Adams said this week.

Instead, he played basketball for a few years.

There was another reason he stayed away from football.

"My mom was pretty scared by it," Adams said. "She didn't want me to play from the start. She was afraid something would happen to me."

Something did. Adams became a star during his redshirt freshman season at Fresno State, evolving quickly into quarterback Derek Carr's favorite target and a possible first-round pick in the NFL draft that runs Thursday through Saturday.

"We're expecting Thursday," said Adams, who decided to leave Fresno State despite having two more years of eligibility. "If Friday happens, we'll go from there."

The 6-foot-1, 212-pounder caught 102 passes for 1,312 yards and 14 touchdowns as a freshman in 2012. That was just a start. Last fall, he led the NCAA with 131 receptions for 1,718 yards and 24 TDs.

Adams was twice named to the All-Mountain West Conference first team after scoring at least one touchdown in 22 of his 26 career games. His 38 touchdowns set a MWC career record, even though he only played two seasons.

Asked what he expected to achieve in college, Adams said he wasn't at all surprised.

"I knew I'd be good enough," he said. "I didn't know exactly what numbers I'd be putting up, but I always knew if I put enough work into and stayed true to my dream of playing professional ball I'd make it to this point. I kept that vision on the back of my mind."

And his mother, Pamela Brown, no longer fears for her son.

"She is very excited," Adams said. "The whole family is."

Last time TT took a relatively unknown super-productive player we ended up with G. Jennings. Just saying. TT knows his WRs.

He might not have a blazing 40 time but a 39 inch vertical and 10' 3" broad jump are both pretty sexy.
