I love every other night for the playoffs. The three days off between games really messes with the flow of the series and gives a strong advantage to top heavy teams

Does Westbrook have a chance at cracking anybody's top 5 if Thunder make it to the Finals with him playing like he has so far?

Oh, absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised if my top five at the end of it was LeBron, and the four guys from this series.

CP would make it for you if the Clips lost in the second round? And vice versa for Westbrook?

Re: 2013-14 Player of the Year Discussion Thread
Durant still holding that top spot for me. Man, I swear I didn't realize he had 36 til I looked at the box score, dude can put up numbers like crazy w/o seeming like he's doing it. Westbrook again great, but really outside of Thabo and Fisher OKC's players all scored pretty well. Russ was efficient and only 2 TOs, nearly another trip doub as well.

Russ doesnt have any chance to make my top 5. Him and Wade have been so inconsistent and missed too many games. Playoff games are obviously more important but im not gonna throw it all away. This season was stacked gonna be tough to see Russ even making my top 10 TBH
Lebron, Kd, Cp3, Blake, Steph, Lma, Love, Dirk, Dwight, Melo, Joakim, Harden..........yeah i dont think so. We should take the whole year into account IMO hes been a monster so far tho

I'd agree, barring something incredible Russ won't break top 5 for me (outside chance of 10, but I admit I'm biased). However, his play is so intertwined w/ KD, if he plays well likely Durant will remain on top.

A back of the envelope SRS. MOV HCA stands for MOV adjusted for having HCA at a value of 3 points.
Percentage of time playing with the lead. This does not include the 5/9 games.
Miami has been the best team so far but the gap is somewhat overstated due to the dramatic difference in strength of schedule.

Yeah I feel that is one of the flaws of SRS. PD and opponent strength are not linear.... An x gap in opponent SRS can easily mean a 2x or 3x gap in PD.

Any of you guys (those who had KD over LBJ based on RS, because not everyone had) changed your number one from Durant to James, based on their playoff performances so far? What I'm trying to ask is - have LeBron's superior playoff showings been enough to make up for KD's regular season edge?
Personally, I still have KD #1, especially now when he seems to be getting back on the right track against LAC.

I wanted to wait a bit for the playoffs to get going, so here's mine as of now:
KD
Lebron
Blake
Dirk
George
The top 2 haven't been changed since the regular season. Obviously if KD had fallen in the 1st round he would have dropped, but that didn't happen, and he has bounced back in a big way since the early Grizz games. Lebron has kept pace and perhaps gained a fraction on his lead with a strong showing, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended on top. Blake and Dirk have had some duds and some good games so far in the playoffs, they haven't moved from where they were a few weeks ago. Dirk is obviously in danger of dropping now that he's gone. George has been the big winner so far in the postseason - he is the biggest reason that the Pacers survived the Hawks, and he has played very well in almost every game so far. I would have put Love in above him 3 weeks ago.

It would have to be a massive swing. It would be like taking Kobe in 2010 over Lebron in 2010 with the massive difference in numbers put up. Had Durant went out vs Memphis I can see the swing. Really as long as Durant gets out of this series vs the LAC he should still have the top spot based on how he played in the season.

As good a regular season as Durant had (and he was clearly the best player in the world for those 82 games in my opinion), I can very easily see the majority of this thread voting LeBron #1 if the Heat three-peat. SPECIALLY so if it's Heat-Thunder and LeBron's team beats KD's team.

Honestly that's how I have it too.
Lebron
Durant
Paul
Griffin
Wb
People underrate wb like crazy and one of the biggest reasons to me why okc can beat both clipps and spurs is no one can match wb intensity and keep him in front of them. I would trade my entire team for wb of I could. I've been saying for a long time wb is arguably the top pg in the league because other pgs rarely impact the game as much as him when the square off. Obv Paul is a better overall player but wb isn't that far behind IMO. His impact goes way further than efficiency stats.

We'll see with regards to Westbrook...I still can't take him over Curry on my personal list. Westbrook's missed regular season games is just too big of a deal to me so far.

It would be insane to do so.
Sure, LeBron had a nice series in the first round.... It was the **** BOBCATS.
Memphis is probably the best defense in the league, the way they were hounding Durant LeBron would have struggled just the same.
Now they're back on terms performance-wise. One series does not overcome 82 games.
