Bobcat: Raptors will make a run for LeBron

So a Toronto sportscaster told Toronto sport fans, on a Toronto radio show, that the Toronto Raptors are being considered by Lebron? Seems credible.

The same people who don't want LeBron are the guys saying that we will be the next 2004 Pistons. If you can get a player of LeBron's talent, skill, stature, and popularity to come to your team, you do it. It would open the door for the potential of this team to attractive other FA and the overall popularity of the team itself.

We need talent to win in this league...not just okay talent, but SUPERSTAR talent. We totally lack a real star player, and the closes thing we have to it is JV. But even he is years away from even remotely getting to that level, if at all.

I swear...we have one good season and people think this team is the next big dynasty in the NBA.

The second lebron signs with the raptors is the second the NBA decides to test for HGH. After which he either declines rapidly or gets busted.

He is far from a puck head and is a huge basketball fan. If you're going to criticize what he said go ahead, he deserves it but to say he's a puck head is just wrong.

I am one of those guys that would love a Pistons type team more than any.

I dislike LBJ as much as anyone but if he wanted to sign here, bring a championship to the city & grow the sport across the country, I'm all for it.

Part of me would rather beat LBJ than have him join here, but having LBJ come here would just have too large of an impact across the country for me to say no.

LBJ coming here would be kind of like when Gretzky left Edmonton for LA to help grow the NHL in the US.

I laugh so hard at people not wanting the best player on the planet on your team. I'm no LeBron fan, but to not want a player of his calibre on the Raptors because of your feelings is ridiculous.

Yeah. Bobcat is actually American (born in Ohio), but grew up in Scarborough. He is a football fan first, but he is also an NBA fan. He uses the term "puck head" all the time.

The NHL is probably last on his list of sports of interest. He just has to cover it because the demand is there.

I don't know if it is ridiculous. You want to cheer for guys that you like & respect.

There is also something to be said for building a team on your own terms & beating the big dogs. It's much more rewarding than buying a championship.

Yeah but let's be fair, whether you earn or "buy" a ship (of which there is no guarantee, see BKN) end goal is to get one. And IF Lebron signs here I wouldn't quantify it as buying a championship. We are signing 1 high profile FA to a max, it's not like we would be 30, 40, or 50M over the cap.

I couldn't tell you which of the 2 is more rewarding lol no Toronto team has won a ship while I have been a sports fan (too young for the Jays).

No you have it wrong as this rumor has nothing to do with Lebron's interests. What Bobcat said is that the Raptors will make an attempt to get Lebron.

Whether or not Lebron even entertains the idea is a whole other issue.

Not a puckhead but not a HUGE basketball fan as you say just because he says he attended UNLV games when he lived in Vegas. Ever hear him discuss the Raptors? It's terrible....a few general comments.....he doesn't follow the team. Loves the Jays though....constantly talking about them.
