Lastly, I think it might be time to say RIP to the Lebron chasedown block. It used to be such a terror and now he feels downright incapable of doing it anymore.

Efficiency continues to be absurd in the playoffs, he's now at .577 FG%, .361 from three, 79% from the line, and an absolutely bonkers .678 TS% and 2.1 TOs. Anybody know what his gamescore and updated PER is after tonight? Sooooo annoying that he missed the FT for 50, though. Whatever.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, he's declining, doesn't care anymore, etc.
RealGM updated and it says 34.2 (40.0 on the road). 130.1 ORTG and 103.1 DRTG (.344 WS/48). That's not so shabby so far.
Missed the first quarter of this game (and the entirety of last game). What I saw tonight, especially in the 2nd, was how good of a job he was doing getting great positioning in the post. He wasn't setting up the jumper all that much, and all of his 3 pt attempts were pull-ups (hard to spot up when the offense looks so dysfunctional without him controlling), but he was doing a great job creating for himself by putting himself in ideal position.
I thought he dialed it up defensively after that 2nd quarter foul. He upped his responsiveness and aggression for a little bit but then let off again later on (granted he was carrying a huge offensive load at this point).
But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

Because of a small overall PS sample, the SAS/POR game will affect this a little bit, so the morning adjust on BBR will likely yield a slightly different figure for PER (could be higher or lower). Everything else should stay about the same.

I don't know about that. Didn't see many opportunities for him today to do that. He tried that in game 1 or 2 and whoever the player was (I can't remember) did well to protect the ball.

Well the reason I said that now was that I was riding the excuse all reg. season that he was coasting on that end, which he obviously was, and would be back to 2013 Lebron in the playoffs; that is mostly true, but that chasedown just seems like a remnant that we may never see with the same regularity again. There were a couple drive-bys from Pierce tonight that I used to believe were doomed to be blocked but instead he was a step behind. Obviously I can't criticize too much, but it sure used to be fun to watch those.

Yeah, I hear yah but I think he still can and will as we go into the ECF and potentially the Finals. I think he had a couple against the Bobcats. His defense wasn't stellar today but it was still good especially in the 4th. I am surprised he was able to play good on the defensive end with the minutes he played and the offensive load he carried.

Absolutely. I was impressed he played any defense at all let alone shutting down iso Joe in the 4th. This is a game for the books and that includes his solid defense when he needed it most.

Awesome effort tonight. Spo played him the entire 2nd half because he really had no other option. Looked gassed late but still had an impactul 4th quarter on and off the stat sheet. The big bosh three came off a lebron hockey assist after garnetts help in the paint
Im too tired to get into much detail now. But to make a long story short, im fairly worried bigger picture about the threepeat bid They haave the best player, they do not have the best team. I really hope to be wrong, but I think its going to take something super extraordinary on his end on the way to 9 more wins. Or some really hot shooting performances from their role shooters collectively.

Re: The Lebron Thread (2013-14 Pt. 3)
amazing performance , will probably be a comfortable game 5 win now at home. Love that he stuck it to pierce after all the talking he's done. Pierce should just stop talking at this point. Just play the game
The heat are going to have to put up better performances than that on the road in the next two rounds considering they are going to be without HCA in both. Thats my only concern right now.

No doubt, the supporting cast has looked really bad at times. Wade's subpar play in the playoffs has to be a legitimate concern now, he's only been slightly better than last year's postseason. Why this is I'm not sure (health? Lack of touches?), but I just don't see any way in hell for Miami to win the title again with Wade looking like this, especially once you factor in Rashard/Haslem/Battier looking like toast to this point (and to a lesser extent, Ray), and how bad Cole has been (Chalmers hasn't been great either, but at least he's been no worse than in the regular season). James Jones might be Miami's best role player so far in the playoffs, though he's obviously a bad defender.
And just like last year, Miami's looked significantly better with Wade OFF the floor, Miami's been a net 19 points/100 possessions worse with Wade on the floor compared to off. I hate to say it, but he's probably just hurting the team - you could easily say it was a fluke or simply due to his health last year, but this is an ongoing trend now.

Yeah the lack of production from some of the guys is understandable because of age and not playing because of matchup(haslem) but cole , chalmers , wade, and bosh have got to step it up another level. Cole doesn't even look NBA calibre at times its weird.
are those off and on splits for wade in the playoffs so far? I know they were bad without wade this season , they need him to play but they need him to be productive , can't be telegraphing passes like that anymore. I still think he's going to step up his game to the level needed soon.
I never want to see rashard in again man , he's horrible. I would rather gamble on jones bad defence and beasley's unpredictable game than him.

Re: The Lebron Thread (2013-14 Pt. 3)
Well, for the on/off stuff, I don't know why this has to be brought up every time, but Wade often is forced to carry the 2nd unit without LeBron, so clearly his on/off numbers will take a dive due to this. I don't think this is a negative for Wade so much as it is a positive for LeBron, and a negative for guys who replace LeBron in the lineup. Think about this, Mike Miller's minutes of the last 2 postseasons are going to Rashard Lewis and James Jones right now... that's pretty bad. Also Cole has been awful for a very long while now.
Wade I thought actually had an overall good game tonight. It won't get noticed as much for a couple of reasons. 1, LeBron obviously completely overshadowed him. 2, the announcers went out of their way to stress that Livingston was killing Wade in the post, when that really wasn't the case, he finished the game 4/9, hardly a difference maker. And 3, Wade had his customary lazy pass leading to costly momentum shifting turnover, horrible habit of his that I'll never understand, he can be a rock solid ball handler but he always seems to make at least 1 of those awful lazy telegraphed passes a game (another guy who you think of as solid with the ball who used to do this a lot is actually Pierce, now that I think about it).
Anyways, 7/13 for 15 points, solid work in the post, solid cuts, good midrange jumper, if he was playing at home probably gets a couple more calls and gets 20 on 12 shots or something. But with the announcers killing him for the Livingston matchup, and his usual dumb turnover, and LeBron being superhuman, it looks a lot worse than it was.
Where Miami is really hurting is the supporting cast outside of the big 3. Ray's not as good as he was last year, Battier's declined the last 2 seasons, and the combination of Rashard and JJ is definitely worse than the minutes Mike Miller gave.

He did it last game but it's def less frequent now. That stamina pool isn't going to get any better.
