I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

thought Maldonado would be in for Lucroy
maybe for tomorrows day game

*

the next 3 games at the Cubs
are all day games ?
is that unusual ?

What made you think that? Maldy caught Sunday and the team was off Monday, no idea why you'd think Luc would play one game in three days (i know he pinch hit Sunday, but i'm not counting that since there was no work behind the plate) and then sit the next. (Especially with GoGo not in the lineup, they need Lucs bat)

Gross lineup. Doesn't matter if we keep pitching and winning!

Ah well that makes sense. But they've only done that twice this season (and once was in Boston when they could DH Luc), so it seems like they've gone away from it except when it happens to work out with Luc needing a rest.

Who would have ever thought a few years ago that Carlos Gomez would be on the cover of SI, one of the top position players in all of baseball, and even leading the team in walks.

Props to Melvin for his patience with Gomez when many Brewers fans wanted him gone, myself included. Then Melvin also got Carlos signed to that absolute steal of an extension with Boras as the agent of all people. Pretty amazing how Gomez has gone from a player who drove me nuts along with most Brewers fans, to now being my favorite player on the team.

I've been a fan of GoGo ever since he came here, but i certainly didn't see this coming. I was just hoping he'd put it together enough to be an everyday player (which wouldn't have required a ton of improvement considering his D was always a great reason to have him in the lineup). But the way hes come around on offense has been outstanding. To go from basically a defensive/pinch running specialist to a legit MVP candidate is mindblowing.

Luc's got a .540 OPS against Liriano but Maldonado only has 3 at bats with no hits and 1 walk.

At least we've stacked the lineup with righties. Somebody will get a piece of Liriano.

Its always been a joy to watch him roam centerfield. Yes, I'm biased, but even before he started hitting I felt he was the best defensive CF in baseball. So good, in fact, that IMO, he was "worthy" of being a every day starter. Now that he's hitting, wow, the Mets and Twins have to be kicking themselves. Yes, big props to Melvin and this coaching staff for simply letting Carlos be Carlos, and not trying to make him something he's not. Made all the difference in the world.

I can't believe they haven't ruled on the Gomez suspension yet. I would almost rather he just withdraw the appeal and accept the three game suspension so he can rest his back.

Yeah even before he could consistently perform at the plate I was a big fan. At least the Mets got Johan Santana for Gomez though, who went on to have a couple more nice seasons with New York. The Twins traded us Gomez for JJ Hardy straight up, and then a year later traded Hardy for two minor league pitchers who are both no longer with the Twins organization. Hardy has been an all-star, silver slugger, and two time gold glover for Baltimore since then.

We saw the power last year, but now he's even walking at a good clip. That was something i questioned would ever happen. One minor concern i have going forward is that i hope he doesn't get any bigger. You can tell Gomez has really hit the weights and that's contributed to his increased power, but i don't want him getting to big to where he loses speed and his defense stops being best in the game.

I look at Weeks and sometimes wonder if at least part of the reason for his decline was that he bulked up to much, the guy looks more like an NFL power running back than MLB secondbaseman. I no question could be 100 percent wrong about that factoring into Weeks decline, but baseball is a different sport than say football and for some players it would seem that bulking up to much could negatively impact them.

I can't believe Herrera is leading off. It's Elian **** Herrera. The CF doesn't have to be the leadoff hitter when Gomez doesn't play, Ron.

It looks like that's exactly what happened. Good call

Gomez dropped his appeal and will start his suspension tonight. Not a bad idea, if he needs a couple days to rest his back he can just serve the suspension for games he was going to miss anyways.
