Deron has to be moved this next year. He is not a franchise player anymore.

If given the opportunity to trade one of them right now (for whatever), who would it be?

I don't see how this is even close. it HAS to be Deron Williams.

1) From a pure financial standpoint, Williams is the better choice to be traded. He is owed more money, over more years, and most importantly he is owed 23M in 2016, the only salary on our books, and the year durant and company become free agents. it would be enormous to either clear his money from 2016, or reduce it by half.

2) Production. Right now, Joe johnson is the better player. He was better, more consistent, and a better fit then williams was this year

3) Health. while williams may be 2 years younger, Joe is much healthier. And going forward i think he projects to remain healthier. I think johnson at 33-35 will be healthier and more effective then williams at 30-32.

4) Replacments. It is much easier to find good point gaurds then it is to find good shooting gaurds. especially ones that can play 2 ways and have johnson's size.

I honestly can't think of any reason why you'd trade johnson over williams. even short term it doesnt really help much more financially, its like a 3M difference. Or if you think williams can return to top 3 point gaurd status, which seems like a complete pipe dream.

i think the better question is would you rather trade: Williams or Lopez

re: Lopez/Deron, I'd take the gamble on Brook's foot instead of keeping that turd on the books into 2016

we need a clear, fresh cap ripe for rebuilding a brand new roster.

I gotta admit I was way off on this one. Man, has my opinion on JJ changed since then. I've a whole new level of respect for JJ now, while Deron continues to underwhelm.
