That would be such an amazing trade for Brooklyn.
Regardless of impact they are off the books in 1 year .

No way that works ...Lin + Asik for Deron but that's not enough salary to take Garnetts $12 Million too .

Can Houston even use the + $5 Million rule ?

Man, Brooklyn is absolutely **** going forward.

Deron is mediocre and on a massive contract, oh and he wants out.
Johnson is good, but also on a massive contract.
Lopez has foot problems.
Garnett & Pierce are dinosaurs.
Zero young talent.
Traded away their 1st round picks/swap rights thru 2018.

Completely mortgaged the next half decade of basketball for a meager 2nd round exit.

There's no way that works under the CBA.

Dallas is a under the cap team so they can take back 150% in salary ( Less than $9.8 Million in outgoing salary) Or Plus $5 Million ( With $9.8 Million or more outgoing salary )

Calderon 7,097,191
Wright 5,000,000
Ellington 2,771,340

$14,868,531 + $5 Million = $19,868,531 Deron Salary $19,754,465

no one.

only trade i see remotely possible is:

Dwill

for

Jennings + Josh smith

And that's a bad deal for the Nets.

I'm sure if he really wants out then he would be willing to waive the trade kicker

This guy is exhibit A of how important attitude is. In Utah, he became a top 3 PG because in year 2 he showed up hungry, in shape, and wanting to prove to Sloan there wasnt anything keeping him from earning his lunch everyday. Then he felt like he had "arrived" and no longer had to work hard...became a malcontent little snot nose, and pooped in his bed. Now he is a mediocre player who has a massive contract and instead of following in John Stockton's legacy he is following in so many other legacies like Marbury, Francis, and other malcontent overpaid little snots with bad attitudes.

Sorry your work ethic and attitude didnt match your talent, Deron.

smh, can't believe how far he fell off. For no real reason either. At least Chris Paul can blame bad injuries for robbing him of explosiveness he had at his peak, but he's still playing like a star. Deron is just mediocre now. Kept waiting for him to blow up all season and it didnt happen. Just disappointing.

Has any player set a franchise back as much as Deron has? Brooklyn has bent over backwards over the years to accomodate him. He repays them by playing like s**t and demanding a trade years later. He basically cost them Favors, Kanter, Lillard, and Draymond. The Joe Johnson trade was a panic move made to get him to re-sign and will cripple them in the long term. He probably has the worst contract in the NBA at this point. Oh yeah, and he's also run three coaches out of town, including a HOF coach.

Brooklyn is just a rich guy's toy, throwing all that money into team and getting nothing out of it.

its an outstanding deal for the nets.

We dont get worse on the court. we potentially get better on the court. and cap wise its an enormous win for us, as we shave 9M off our 2016 cap, which would be down to 15.3M

there is zero downside for the nets in that deal

2nd round = Nothing?

you might want to look into the return the knicks got for their money for a good example of "nothing"

as in:

No playoff birth
No lottery pick

Not after you sign Dirk, Gortat, Ariza etc

1-Dallas trades Mekel + Cash for Cap Space

2-Leaves Dallas $31.4 Million cap space

3-Dallas signs Dirk $9 Million / Gortat $12 Million / Ariza $7.4 Million / Harris $3 Million / Carter $2.7 Million Room exception

4-Dallas may even be able to convinvce both Marion and Carter or just Carter to return for the Vet Min . If so this opens up $3 Million maybe to spread out to Dirk $10 Million / Ariza $8.4 Million / Gortat $13 Million

5-Dallas signs Marion / Carter / Toliver Vet Min

6-Dallas trades Wright / Calderon / Ellington for Deron

PG-Deron / Harris / Larkin
SG-Ellis / Carter / Ledo
SF-Ariza / Marion / Crowder
PF-Dirk / Tolliver / Dallas Pick
C-Gortat / Dalembert / Boston Pick

Not sure if either Marion or Carter would take the Vet Min . But that is a pretty stacked Roster so considering the chemistry they already have in Dallas I think they Consider it . If not I already pointed out its possible to do it with one getting $3 Million

Dallas spending all of their cap space first does not change the fact that they can take back $5 Million extra in salary from a Calderon / Wright / Ellington trade

How has nobody mentioned the Knicks? I get they're cross-city rivals but there has to be some trading of bad contracts that make sense. That's the problem with D-will's deal is that only Detroit and Knicks could possibly make it work, maybe Dallas if they can make the numbers work. No way does Houston waste Lin and Asik's expirings on that dreadful deal when they need a real 3rd star.

Well, as long as you sleep good at night and you are happy with results, then Nets had a fantastic season and 102,828,064 $ well spent on 2nd round exit.
