Screw grading on a curve!! Games should have been won. If i'm the owner, heads would roll!

The 2 highest paid players on this team sucked azzz, and played stupidly. And i don't care what anyone says, but you can't fix stupid!

Nevermind, i'll just hope he gets smarter...

I'm honestly having a hard time understanding posts like these, other than being completely frustrated over the loss.

Wall, Beal and company got this team got them to game 6 of the second round of the playoffs against the #1 seed. This was their first time in the playoffs. The surrounding cast helped them immensely. Nene, who clearly played hurt after game three, and was his regular unproductive self when hurt, was pretty critical in the Chicago series.

And Wittman totally deserves to be coaching next season. If getting his team this far doesn't qualify, what would have? We would be rediculed more than Golden State was if we dumped Wittman.

No heads are going to roll this offseason, nor should they. Now, if some awesome trade comes up to move Webster, or perhaps Nene, fine, lets look at it. But the team as currently constructed played pretty well this year - certainly better than any year in over 30 years for the Wizards. Nobody was under illusions that Gil and company would get us there. And Chris Webber was here all of 5 minutes before being run out of town for smoking a joint.

Bottom line, there has been little or no hope for the last 30+ years. This team now brings that.

They may be easy to replicate, but nobody on our team is replicating Ariza's production any time soon. We'd have to replace him by going out and getting somebody, and that's far from a guarantee to get done.

The problem is that you guys are basing your opinions primarily on one year of Ariza's play. No doubt Ariza had a stellar year. But, it was in a contract year and Ariza is likely to decline and not get better. I've seen too many teams get burned after signing players to long term contracts after one great season during a contract year.

Regarding Otto, I just don't think anyone has seen enough of him to make a conclusion on whether he could adequately fill Ariza's role or not. I think Otto could turn out to be as good as Ariza is on D, rebounding and passing. The big question mark is will he be able to hit the spot up 3.

I just think the Wizards will have to overpay for Ariza if they want him and that will ultimately be a mistake. If they can get Ariza without overpaying, then that is another story.

Agreed. It makes too much sense to let Ariza go when you've got the 2013 3rd pick waiting in the wings for his opportunity. The same pick that most people here loved.

Considering the age/fragility of the front court, why spend so much coin on the SF position where 3&D guys are often had on the cheap and we've already invested a high pick into the position not to mention the fact we already got a pricey sub in Webster?

Ariza is not an all-star, not a guy that you can ISO and have create shots. He's replaceable. And I have no doubt, that the team that signs Ariza is going to have buyers remorse early into that contract.

Ariza just had a much better playoffs than John Wall. Ariza defended well, rebounded well, and he shot well. In the Finals years ago, he was solid. The Wizards didn't play Otto because Porter's not good. Kawhi Leonard was ready at 20 to contribute. Porter's going to need a couple years.

The Wizards need to keep Gortat and Ariza, and move Webster and Nene.

Agree, only because I cant see the value in paying 13mil for Nene. He is declining and he cant be trusted to play a full season. He is a very good backup now. Maybe, try to trade him for a first round pick in the draft. If we do loose him though, we will need to find some brawn who can clog up the middle and shoot that corner of the FT line shot.

1. Ted getting up off his chair to contest a call exclaiming "bull!". It showed a different side to Ted that I had not seen before.

2. Wall tearing up…shows a lot. That inner, stinging pain is a good thing and will go a loooong way. Vengeance mode activated.

3. Beal crying. The combination of pain and passion are a part of many ingredients needed to become a legit star/superstar. This is how killers are born.

4. Gortat seeing the young star Beal in tears (# 3), walks up and comforts him, gives him a hug and some advice. What a true, caring vet. Hammer has won many of us fans here that’s for sure.

Great post man...you pretty much summed it up. There is a lot to be proud of...add to that the crowd giving a standing ovation at the end...I think our fans have as much growing to do as the players and next season expectations will be higher.

This season blew away my wildest expectations and everyone deserves to be back. I hope we retain Gotat and Ariza..
We gotta let either Ariza or Webster go to give Porter some pt.

The fact that Gortat was consoling Beal in the end tells me he wants to be here. He'll get a lot of interest though so itll be a tough choice whether to spend crazy money or not.

We need to strengthen the bench but this experience should propel Beal and Wall to a very productive offseason and they should go into next season knowing they were one of the last 6 teams with a shot to win the title. They should now have the confidence to know they can beat anyone!

I'd sooner base an opinion on one season of play than base a hope on something we've never seen- Otto thriving from 3 OR on D.

But trust me, I share your hope. And I share your concern on what EG might shell out to Ariza.
I'm just not willing to bank on Otto yet. Maybe Martell reappears next season after he disappeared in the playoffs.

The max player shot 5-16 for 12 points. Bad refs be damned. That cant happen.

If Wall had a solid series...that would carry over well for next season. But playing this bad...

He's going to be officially on notice next post season. He's too good to play this bad.

We're right back to where we were exactly one year ago.

Wall has one good hand. The team is down 3-2.

Can they force a Game 7 this time?

Was just thinking the same thing. A guy with the skill and the mentality to put the team on his back, even when things aren't going well.

Heck, give us a guy like David West and we're the ones getting ready to play Miami. Even a guy like Paul Pierce could be that guy for a year or two IMO.

Never got my props for calling this one back on page 34. BOOM! 8-)
