Sixers fans big board: Pick #17 (POLL)

Post#1 » by HartfordWhalers » Sat May 17, 2014 3:15 pm

#1 was Wiggins
#2 was Embiid
#3 was Parker.
#4 was Exum
#5 was Randle
#6 was Vonleh
#7 was Smart
#8 was Gordon
#9/#10/#11 was Young/Harris/Saric threeway tie :o
#12 was Stauskas
#13 was Nurkic
#14 was McDermott
#15/#16 was Ennis/Anderson
On to #17

Again, this is the player you most wish the Sixers would pick of the remaining players, not who you think will go 17th in some mock draft.

Poll choices being filled out by Dx mock draft, but if you want another choice upcoming just make some noise about it (Zach Lavine added for this reason).

This is hard, because id be looking to base a pick like this to pair with whoever we acquired with our 1st 2 picks.

If we needed a big id go Payne.

BUT if were just BPA at 17, id swing for the fences with LaVine.

Kid was highly impressive at the combine....if someone could connect the dots and develop him correctly, he could be steal.

Adreian Payne... And it's not really close. Barring injury' there won't be 10 players in this draft that have better careers than Payne.

I have done little research other than watch draftexpress videos; however, Capela has the size and athleticism, that we see in players like Dalembert, but Capela is also coordinated. I don't understand why he isn't projected in the 8-10 range.

I should write this crap down so I can evaluate my projections 3 years from now.

I'm not that knowledgable about the European players, but from the video that I've seen of Capela, I'm not that impressed. He looks like Dwayne Dedmond when he was at USC. He looks like a lesser prospect than Chis Walker, who was projected to go in the 2nd round. Capela just looks like an OK big man prospect, that will take 5 years to be useful. Like I said, I'm not an expert on the Euros, so I must be missing something.

IMO, Capela showed at the Hoop Summit that he's got a lot of growing too do as a player before he's ready to contribute at the next level.

I don't see him ever developing much of an offensive game, and would likely be a poor fit next to Noel.

How would Capela compare to Biyombo? The things I'm hearing makes me think they're very similar.

Went with LaVine. After the combine and workouts I figure he will go a lot higher. I wouldn't be upset with him after the obvious top 8 of this draft. Hopefully we can get lucky Tuesday and get a the top pick and at least the 8th pick.

Is that the best it can be? Figured the Pelicans pick could move up anywhere in the top 10. Or is it just the top 3? Stupid rules getting in the way of our dynasty.

For me, I think of Capela and LaVine the same. They are development projects with high ceilings. They have elite length and athleticism for their positions. I have LaVine over Capela only because of the combine results even though Capela has been playing in a better league and is more "proven..."

I have Payne and Hairston next because I think they have lower ceilings but are safer picks.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

I am even more intrigued by the high ceiling, athletic projects because I feel like we hired an entire staff of assistants who were player development specialists for other teams.

If Collins were our coach, I wouldn't feel the same.

The only reason Payne isn't a lotto pick is because he's 23. If he was 18,19, or 20 with his skill set... easy top 10 pick. Hell, if Vonleh, Gordon, and Saric are all gone at 10 he should be under strong consideration to go there anyway, far as I'm concerned. Fantastic fit with Noel, too. Love to get another teens pick to draft this guy. BOS 17 pick plus PHI 2015 1st and Wallace for cap space? Take a wing at 2 (Wiggins) and 10 (Young) and Payne at 17.

Noel-Sims-Mullens
Payne-T. Young-Moultrie
J. Young-Richardson-Thompson
Wiggins-Anderson-Williams
MCW-Wroten-2nd

Not a bad team. Young as hell and still won't make the playoffs next year, but not a bad team.

We could get 10, 11 or 12. Pels keep it for 1, 2, 3. No other spots are possible. Just under 90% chance we stay at 10.

Voted Lavine at this point, where reward outweighs risk.

At this point in the draft I like LaVine then McDaniels/Adams... to pair with Wiggins/Gordon that we drafted at 1&10 :)

For me its Payne at 17, Lavine at 18 and Grant at 19. I'm a bit surprised Grant hasn't gotten any votes yet.

I'm a little surprised also. Everything KJ McDaniels can do Jerami Grant can do, and is 3 inches taller and longer. McDaniels will be an undersized SF, with shooting issues. Jerami Grant will have the same shooting issues, but will be able to play and guard Power Forwards. You can survive a "Tweener" SF/PF who can't shoot. It's harder to survive a "Tweener" SG/SF who can't shoot.
