The Lakers for example could take on the expiring contracts that either the Rockets or Bulls have for their picks so that those teams can go for Melo.

The Lakers could trade the pick but I don't really see us getting anyone good from it that won't be a free agent the next season and I'd rather have our pick over someone like Rondo.

Whats the point in that?

It would get us additional picks without having to give up anything. The only real trade asset we have is Nash's expiring contract and I don't see anything meaningful coming out of that unless its packaged with a pick of our own or something.

You answered my question in your first post. Why would we take on expiring contracts for a pick when we are limited on our cap space while waiting for 2015. It doesn't make sense. We have a limited cap space and we are going to give it up for a pick probably in the second round. I don't see how we can benefit out of that.

And wasn't Kobe drafted at 13 or something?

96 class was stacked all the way to 20 with proven rookies. Everybody knew that. That's not the case in this draft.
And Ginobili and Marc Gasol 48th, Parker 28th, Ellis 40th and so on and so on. That's a chance you have to take in the late round. Very rare to find a gem like these players I mentioned in the late rounds.

The Lakers would try to get a mid first round pick or two for their cap space and the player the Lakers seem to be interested in isn't available until 2015 anyways. What doesn't make sense about it?

If anybody offers us anything for Nash if I were Mitch I'd call them back and say "HELL YES" and send them a gift basket also

Exactly!! And this is why I keep posting to this guy "why would we do that"? Why would we take on contracts or add to our cap to buy or get a pick when every player after the 6th pick in the first round aren't proven and its basically a crap shoot.
