You are putting all your eggs in one basket, and if that one pick is a bust you've sent your team back for some time IMO.
Getting the 6 and jettisoning salary would still be better in my mind than having to take on Lee's salary in order to get a fairly mediocre role-player SG and draft bust SF.
I definitely hear what you're saying about Chandler and the Houston offer, though. It would likely be similar to the GS offer, which IMO is not that good. I'd still take Parsons over Thompson since he's clearly the better overall player, but really, neither is more than "just another guy" in the grand scheme of things, and ideally neither should be the centerpiece for a star.
I get it if you wouldn't like Klay since he has one cheap year left on his current deal. But he's far from mediocre as a player. Putting offense aside, he's a legitimate defender at the 2 guard with great size at 6'7''. He'd be a nice start and one Golden State would be loathe to give up in a deal. You may cite PER or whatever box score stat, but he has turned himself into more than just a shooter. His ability to play excellent defense on the opposing team's best perimeter defender and shoulder a heavy scoring load is nothing to scoff at. Yes, you may not like him in a Love package, but Klay would be an excellent starting piece in a deal. But, like I said in reality Minnesota's front office may want an asset who is cost controlled a bit longer.
I'm not sure we'd have the picks and expiring deals you may want as well. Bummer, Love would look great in Blue and Gold.
The combination of assets I'd be willing to part with to land Love:
Lee - I would also attempt to find a third team who might offer an expiring deal, but that might not be too fruitful an endeavor.
Draymond Green - Again, not a box score stuffer but your fan base will soon love him. Great defender and intangible guy off the bench.
Harrison Barnes - Hasn't had the best start to his pro career, but like his apologists like to say, he's still only 22 with a ton of athletic potential. He may or may not have played through nagging injuries to start the year.
Klay Thompson - Would be considered the centerpiece of a deal. Could be a top 3-5 shooting guard as soon as next year with the way he was attacking the basket off the dribble after the all star game. Plus defender and good locker room guy.
2015 1st Rounder - Will have to be traded post draft. Most likely a mid 20's selection.
Feztus Ezeli, Ognen Kuzmic, Nemanja Nedovic - Young players to add sweeteners. Ezeli being the best of this bunch, but was out all of last year.
GSW would try and push for a Lee + Barnes + 2015 1st package. I would be willing to add Dray to that group, but if you're asking for Klay at minimum i'd offer Lee + Klay + 2015 1st. If they say no, well hey at least we tried.
