Luc at 1st and Maldy behind the plate should be the regular as long as he has a hot bat and Aramis is out.

Yeah, they had an article on Brewcrewball about that today, it makes a lot of sense. Its essentially choosing between Bianchi, Overbay or Maldys bat, and given how Maldy has been going its a no brainer. Even if he regresses hes not any worse than what you're gonna get from Bianchi or even Overbay at this point.

And honestly Overbay hasn't even had an impressive glove at first anymore, so i'd be up for ditching him completely and making Luc the backup 1st baseman at this point. Helps save his legs too so thats a bonus. Not sure what the best use of Overbays roster spot would be though.

Tonight is a Weeks night given the platoon, but Scooter, as expected, is beginning to show signs of what he really is. Down to .691. I am still not sold that Weeks is back to his old self, but now is the time to pull of the reigns on that platoon and see if Weeks is what he once was.

A lot of people saw that, the Brewers for whatever reason didn't. And one of my main reasons for wanting to keep Juan over Overbay to begin with was because of the exact situation we're in now (Rami injured). I said it at the time and i'll say it again, it was a very stupid decision.
I'm not saying Juan is anything special, and i realize hes not good on D (better at third than first but still not good), but when you don't have a single power bat on your bench you're doing it wrong. Plus he would have been a nice option to have at third next year if Rami doesn't come back. I'm sure the Brewers had to have looked at that scenario too, so they really must not like Juan or they have some sort of plan for third next year that i'm hoping isn't just bring Rami back another year.

If benching the hottest guy in your lineup for 2 games and proceeding to go 20 scoreless innings in a row against the **** Cubs didn't teach them that lesson, nothing will. So heres to hoping they saw the same thing we did. At the very least, if they insist on putting Scooter back in, for the love of god don't put him in the 2 hole again.

The fact that the organization platooned Scooter in the first place I think showed they knew at least somewhat what he was as a hitter. That said, I hope they don't have too high of an opinion of him. This is what he is. A .700 guy in a platoon role at a position that shouldn't be platooned. This was my fear from last year where I argued for hours upon hours with RS is that the organization doesn't fall in love with a poor man's Chris Getz.

I have been fine with him in the platoon role and as a short-term guy to try out, but I hope he isn't their long-term solution and somebody they give a ton of rope to, as they did with Yuni.

Thats part of the reason i hate Scooter, hes essentially Yuni 2.0 in a lot of different ways. The sad thing is Yuni was better simply because he was more versatile. You could at least play him at multiple positions and it was ok. (Not when he was at 1B obviously, but everything else he played he seemed fine at defensively)
I also have to go through the painstaking explanations (as i did with Yuni) as to why hes just not very good to my family who don't understand the more in depth parts of what make a player. I'm not talking anything fancy like all those "new" statistics, because honestly i don't know enough about those to understand all of them. But just simple things like OBP and the like. Because i'm dealing with people that go, oh look at his batting average its pretty good. All the while the BA is about equal to OBP because he can't draw walks. Its frustrating and the more i have to explain it to them the more i hate Scooter. Of course when he manages to do something useful they gleefully point out that hes a good player and i'm just left shaking my head.

I agree with most of what you're saying, though Yuni sucked at defense. He was a guy that didn't make many errors but was slow as hell on his feet to make plays. You also had to explain why Yuni sucked on D to most people.

Scooter is OK so far, but nothing special on D.

Yeah thats true, i didn't mean he was a good defender, i just meant he didn't really **** up all that much.

The only reason anybody likes Scooters D is because he doesn't really **** up the simple plays. Whereas the guy he replaced has been known to do that on too many occasions for anyones liking. (Though lately Weeks has actually done well at 2nd and hasn't **** anything up) The thing that bothers me about Scooters D is he has one of the weakest arms i've ever seen on a major league player (which is probably the reason they'd never consider trying him at any other position)

^yes. i agree with all that.
i want to add, i think the Brewers were afraid of having the 1B spot be the same as last season
they thought Overbay would b able to do all the D and stay healthy all season
i would take all of Juans HRs and mistakes at 1B and his 3B playing abilities
would b a better backup for 1B and 3B

im all for signing Kendrys, and moving Overbay (can/would, he go to AAA ?)

They have an offense as offensive as ours so far. 29th in runs scored per game at 3.21. Crew at 25 with 3.84. I'll be happy with a split.

Nice job by Reynolds on that DP. Can't afford to get too far behind early so thats probably a pretty important play in this game.
