Entirely possible. It will largely depend on if the interest from other teams drives up the price in a bidding war.

You were absolutely baiting both Mattya and Narf by attempting to call them out in regards to prior posts. You were trying to provoke a reaction and you got one. Don't try and act innocent now.

I don't want to be issuing warnings(or for some of you guys issue vacations) over Kevin Love threads, but I won't hesitate.

Its not too hard for non-Wolves fans to understand Wolves fans attachment to their best player and to be respectful of their franchise and them as individuals. And Wolves' fans, some of you are going to have to grow a little thicker skin and deal with lowball offers, and comments about him wanting out, or wanting LA or whatever.

Everyone can feel free to disagree about what Love wants or doesnt want, but you can all do it in a mature, respectful fashion. Luckily most of you are choosing to do that and I have no doubt that will continue. But for those of you who want to bait or troll or make it personal, well I have no problem being the "bad cop".

GSW will not include Klay Thompson. They lose too much offense AND defense.

Then they won't get Love. And, honestly, I'm not sure they get Love even with Thompson. Neither Thompson (sub-15 PER) nor Barnes (sub-10 PER) are good enough to justify having to take back Lee's contract.

Besides the teams Love has mentioned having interest in going to. If I were detroit, I would be pushing hard to land him. Just hired SVG as coach and head of basketball operations. Now you pair Love with Drummond, the best up,and coming rim protector with arguably the best stretch 4 and build around that. If they are succesful year 1 I think Svg could get him to stay long term. I would try and move Monroe and some future picks\players for him. If they could hold onto there pick this year and get Love, they would be in great shape.

I can't imagine that the Clippers wont put forth an offer. The Stirling situation will resolve itself soon (I hope) and most likely, our new ownership will include charismatic celebrities such as Floyd Mayweather, Matt Damon or David Geffen - so I see the Clippers as retaining its free agent desirability next year.

That being said, I would think the Clippers could offer DJ, JCraw and either Barnes, Dudley or a S&T with Collison for Love (and KMart if necessary). They could also have our unprotected, next available first round pick.

DJ was defensive player of the year (by stats at least), leading the league in FG%, TS%, Rebounds and Blocks. JCraw was the sixth man of the year. Both are on reasonable contracts.

Love is worth more, but that was last year. Now with Love being open about moving on, most teams wont risk gutting their teams without an extension. The Clippers will take Love as is and play him next to Griffin in a small ball type lineup, with Big Baby as the fill in center. Minny will likely trade Pek for further assets. Its a long shot, but so far, the offers for Love have been pretty dismal. Plus his family resides in Los Angeles. If not, we make this offer to New York for Melo.

Those assets just don't come close.

Love and Drummond would be great, but if I am Detroit there is no way I am making a reasonable fair offer and thinking Love will stay. And its not like SVG hasn't had experience with a big man having a year left and wanting out, I think he will know to avoid the situation.

I would add there is also Olynyk, and assuming Minnesota doesn't end up over the lux tax + apron, a sign and trade of Humphrey's with the first year guaranteed only. This was used by Brooklyn with Bogans, but due to Humphries' (absurdly) high salary it shouldn't have to count as only 50% for matching.

Thus Humphries + Bogans + Anthony could end up taking back Love, Martin, Brewer, and Budinger...

Or in short, there are just a ton of possibilities for a Love to Boston deal.

They also have a $10 TPE from the Paul Pierce trade that could absorb Brewer and Budinger together straight up.

It's also possible that Minnesota will want to keep one or all of Martin, Brewer, and Budinger. They're slightly overpaid in general (and really overpaid for a rebuilding team), but all three are quality rotation guys when healthy.

Yep. My guess would be keeping Martin would be seen as a plus of the three, but also the most attractive to Boston. I think Boston would actually include something to get him in the TPE.

Definitely could (should?) be a whole thread on the best Boston - Love deal, but I'm not going to post one until 8:30 tomorrow and the lottery is done.

What worries me about Thompson: by making him a centerpiece and convincing him to go from winning in California to freezing his nuts off for a non playoff team, you're probably committing to having to pay him way over market value.

Yep.

Or Beal/Nene/1st for Love/Martin.

Minny's choice.

If I was a Wizard fan, I would not trade Beal in a deal for Love.

I appreciate that. I do.

I've followed Beal closely since before his freshman season at Florida even started; I have a buddy who is a college assistant whose team played them in a pre-season scrimmage and was blown away -- and was blown away at how shocked DOnovan and his staff were at Beal's smarts, maturity, etc.

I was thrilled when the Wiz got the third pick knowing that they'd have a shot at picking him, and I did a cartwheel when Charlotte took MKG leaving Beal on the board.

I've seen Beal play 20ish times in person and have watched a solid 80% of his games overall. I love the kid. I think he has a great chance to be a great player -- particularly given how he elevated his game in the playoffs after a somewhat lackluster sophomore campaign.

But Eric Gordon was a great prospect. So was Derrick Favors. So was Al Jefferson -- who has had a really nice career, but hasnt ever won anything of consequence himself. THose three were the centerpiece in trades for established young stars (Paul, Deron Williams and Garnett) and none of them reached nearly the heights of the guy they were dealt for. Beal could be great, but he also couldn't. As a Wizards fan, I think you have to go for the sure thing and I believe Love is just that.

Love with Wall, Ariza, Gortat, the MLE and a few other complementary pieces could win the East next year.

So yeah, I love Bradley. But I'd trade him for Love.

We would NOT trade Beal for Love. The Wizards thankfully will NOT be in the Love trade discussions (other than on this board).

I don't doubt that you are correct in comparable valuations, but lets be realistic. Kevin Love has made it clear that he wants to be with a contender. He is going to be a free agent and sign with a contender eventually, so whoever gets him is really loaning him for just a year - unless that team happens to already be contenders.

I cannot think of a single team that has the assets to get Love, whilst ensuring that they remain contenders. The Spurs have no assets. Oklahoma wont give up either KD or Westbrook. Miami won't give up LeBron (and who really wants Wade right now?). Teams like Cleveland wont give up guys like Irving, because if they do, Love wont be with a contender and he will leave after a year. Same goes with George and Indiana and/or Harden and Houston.

The two best bets according to RealGM are the Dubs and the Bulls. The only way for the Dubs to get Love would be to give up Klay, DLee and Barnes (plus picks). The only way for the Bulls to get Love would be to give up DRose (plus add negative value in Boozer). Unless Love signs an extension, neither of these teams are likely to pull the trigger as it would leave them decimated should he leave (and lets not forget the Howard / Lakers historical precedent). That leaves the Wolves in a pretty poor situation.

All they can really do is trade Love to a lottery team with a high draft pick or picks. After the trade, who is to say that these teams will become immediate contenders? The probability is against them.

The Clipper offer of DJ + JCraw + Misc is not great, but it comes without strings attached and no 3 team deals necessary. If Love decides to bail, then that's life. If not, then he has a contender. I don't think you can write this off so quickly in my opinion.

You think Love will be a Bull because of Taj Gibson and a bevy of crappy draft picks? I don't get it.

As a Minny fan, do you like any of those offers?

Houston's offer looks garbage to me. Not even including Parsons makes it laughable.

Chicago's offer is decent, but there isn't a great asset involved.

GS offer with Lee + Barnes + Klay + getting bad contracts back looks like the best offer so far IMO

There's going to be a downside to any of them, but at least one promising young player or high-ish draft pick would be nice

Because even as a rental with zero chance of resigning him, that offer will be trumped?

I don't think the Bulls would offer Rose + Boozer for Love. Maybe that's not what you were trying to say though.

Wolves are in a pretty good position. Some other fans have also essentially been saying Love and whomever is dealing with the Wolves has the positioning power / leverage. Given that 6 teams have been linked to being interested already, I think the Wolves have more leverage here than they are getting credit for.

Based on this thread, most seem to agree Boston has the best value to offer to Minnesota for a rebuilding route, as well as the most flexibility to make a deal work for both sides. I guess it all comes down to whether you think Love is ok with Boston or not as a long term destination.

As a Wolves' fan, I don't see why it wouldn't be. In the Eastern Conference, Love and Rondo alone should be enough to make the playoffs, which should appease Love. And it won't be Love and Rondo alone. Boston will still have Olynik, Green, Bradley, one or more of Boston's future 1sts, all or part of the Pierce TPE, Martin, Budinger, and/or Brewer, etc. all as trade pieces or as part of their rotation.
