I'll be seeing Alice In Chains instead.

To that note, I wrote a stanza about what it will feel like if the Pistons lose their pick to the tune of "Down In A Hole" by the aforementioned Alice In Chains.

"Down in a hole and I don't know if the Pistons can be saved.
See our logo, it might as well be Joe D's grave.
Oh, he didn't understand that draft picks you shouldn't trade.
When you're team is awful, it's draft picks you should save."

May the basketball gods be with us tonight.

It wont be the same without layne and star. One of the best voices in rock history.

I have faith that it will be pretty cool anyway. The set list they've been playing on this tour is awesome, and I dig the newer AIC quite a bit too.

I gotta say its got me a little suspicious here that the NBA chose today of all days to make the name change official. Knowing the NBA, you would think they are planning to use the lotto as an opportunity to market the new logo on TV. The only way that happens is if they steal our pick.

Bill Simmons has a funny article in Grantland today on lottery karma. We're on the good side. One interesting thing he said - he is still convinced Embiid will be the #1 pick, calling him a 7ft Ibaka. Assuming he recovers from his back issue, that could certainly happen.

I will hate that logo forever if it shows up in the 9th spot, and I like that they're the hornets again...

My 10 tries:

#2 Parker - can't I just stop now? :-)
#3 Parker - I'm warming up to him now
#8 McDermott - please no
#8 McDermott - I said no...
#8 McDermott - I said no. Please no?
Passed by the Kings, Charlotte gets our pick (McDermott drops to 12?)
#8 McDermott - just give it to Charlotte if this is our pick
#8 McDermott - just kill me now
#8 Wiggins - just kidding, f--king McDermott again
And the 10th try we get...
#8 McDermott

No way we are picking him. No f--king way. Stauskas, Saric, Julias Randle went 9, this can't be our destiny.

I was just thinking how the NBA likes to place #1 overall picks in their hometown lately (Lebron-CLE, Rose-CHI), and because Toronto isn't in the draft, the closest city to Wiggins hometown (of the teams in the lotto) is Detroit. :)

He could be real comfortable here, just a short drive across the bridge back to his home country.

Well guess i'll try my hand with the lottery game. 10 tries ahead.

1. Lose pick, Freaking Cavs get the second picks, charlotte selects gary harris at No. 9

2. #8 Doug McDermont, don't really want him

3. #8 Doug McDermont, this guy will make singler look like the DPOY

4. Phoneix jumps into the top 3 and selects Embiid, karma gods shine, cats select Harris

5. #8 Doug McDermott...looks like he's our first option at 8...

6. #8 Doug McDermont... I hope stan is smarter than this

7. #8 You know who

8. #8 Doug Funny... Err McDermott

9. #8 The next larry bird except shorter and less athletic

10. #1 Jabari Parker FINALLY!!! lol
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

One other fun fact:

The Pistons have had a top 3 pick at least once every decade of their franchise history. With SVG aboard you have to think this will likely be our last time in the lotto. So if it stays true to history, tonight should be the night we get that top 3 pick for this decade. :P

NBA has to be tired of the Pistons being in the garbage dump for the past 6 years

If the Pistons are top team then rivalries with Indiana, Chicago, and Heat can be profited from

Couple that with the fact that Gores has spent tons of money since becoming owner and us getting a new coach we deserve a top 3 pick more than any other team in the running

Carmelo could win a title if paired with a big man of the level we project Drummond to be.

Exactly. Especially if it was a Carmelo who was a bit more efficient and could spread the floor better and find open men better, even if he scored a little less. There's only 1 guy in the league--Lebron--whom you could surround with mediocre guys and still make you a fringe contender. Everyone else needs a few high level players, solid role players, and a good team system to contend. Not even the best #1 picks of the last decade--D Rose, Blake Griffin, John Wall--can make you into a contender without serious help.

Hell, most teams would be happy to get a multi-year all-star out of the 1st pick. Ask the people that drafted Bogut, Bargnani, Oden, and Bennett at #1 over the past decade. Not to mention the Thabeets, D Williams, Beasleys of the world at #2. You don't want to miss out an a Blake Griffin or Carmelo by reaching for the stars...and getting a Thabeet.

Well if the league wants Wiggins (or Parker) to be #1, than a team with a young, dominant center should win the lottery to be able to pass up Embiid and take one of they hyped wings.

(On a side any and all of those "Draft is rigged" dudes should offer up the results before the unveil of what they feel the NBA rigging of this one would be - retroactively explaining the outcome as result of a rig isn't acceptable or reasonable if you want to be taken seriously in your claim).

My rig prediction would be Lakers getting into the top three with Milwaukee/Philly getting the top two it either order -

Milwaukee
Philly
Lakers

Milwaukee gets Embiid, Philly gets Wiggins, Lakers get Exum and Parker gets to Utah.

IF you believe in conspiracy theories then Lakers have to go top 3

Other than that it could be a normal draft.

Personally I'd like to see Milwaukee and Philly end up at #4 & #5...tanking teams shouldn't be rewarded.

I stopped believing in conspiracies when Orlando didn't get the top pick after giving away Howard to the Lakers.
