Re: The Lottery - Tuesday, May 20th
Lakers tanked as well - that inexplicable contract extension to Kobe was to buy him out from having to come back this season to prove his health and hurt their tank in the process. I think Milwaukee is just bad.
I'd LOVE to see Philly bumped back a couple though, and right out to #5 but odds are ridiculously long on that. That would mean three teams would have to leapfrog both them and Milwaukee (would suck for us too unless one of them moving up was us - or I guess Jazz, Boston and LAL or Sacto were the teams moving up). But for Philly to miss out on the big four would be divine. But that level of schadenfreude would have Lady Karma biting me in the ass as well, so I'll "settle" for the Pistons just picking ahead of Philly - I know helluva sacrifice to bear.

It's happened before I think. Celtics in 2007 in the Oden/Durant sweepstakes?
Anyways, the odds of us landing in the Top 3 (10%) are so low, that I'm not going to entertain that dream scenario anymore. If I expect some good fortune for us to finally win the lottery, I'm just gonna set myself up for disappointment when really I should be happy already to get #8 and not lose our pick.
Of course if it does happen,

Like I said if we cant get in the top 3 then lets hope Sacramento does. It would give us a much better shot at getting Smart.

Lottery ball drawing has happened at this point - so 3-4 people in the whole world know the results. Maybe one will tweet the results early - Ha!

This is a unique draft because usually when I see our logo come up in the spot we are supposed to pick I'm disappointed and bummed the rest of the night, after watching other teams move up.
This time though I'll be thrilled just to see us stay at 8.

Re: The Lottery - Tuesday, May 20th
Simmons ranked our lottery karma 4th for anybody who hasn't seen his piece on Grantland.
http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-n ... -rankings/
4. Detroit Pistons
Do you penalize them for the never-ending slew of head-scratching trades and signings, all the coaches they hired and fired, and all the money they tossed away? Or do you say, “It’s time for a fresh start for DEEEEEEE-troit basssssssketball with Andre Drummond, Stan Van Gundy and a top-three lottery pick, followed by the down-low hiring of V. Stiviano to secretly bait Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings into saying something terrible into a tape recorder so they can void both of their contracts”?
(You know what? I’m going with the latter. The NBA is more fun when the Pistons are good. They cleaned house, they’re moving forward, they made a very smart hiring with SVG, and now they deserve a break, dammit. Also, Jalen Rose would start throwing $100 bills into Indiana’s crowd tonight if his Pistons won the lottery.)

If Carmelo had Andre Drummond & Greg Monroe that would be a different story.
Its no shock Melo plays his best in the Olympics & All Star Games where he plays off the ball & predominately shoots J's.

That article was awesome and the comments regarding "what if the Lakers win and Celtics fall to 7"

I got us taking Marcus Smart one time, but Sac and some other team had to make it to the top 3 specifically.

I realized why I don't like bill Simmons. He's one of us.

We'll get the 2nd overall pick or 9th pick. That's my final lottery prediction.

If This isn't Orlando we've lost our pick to Charlotte

If This isn't Denver we've lost our pick to Charlotte

If This isn't Philly we've lost our pick to Charlotte
Then #9...
If this pops up Pistons (or would they already put in Charlotte) we've lost the pick.
Then #8...
Finally we can breathe here as we're at least keeping our pick - but now we're hoping to see Sacramento's logo come out of the envelope here.
Just quoting this so everyone can keep track during the lotto! Here we go!

Did it once, we got the 3rd pick. Didn't do it again. I'll take that
