A three year deal for Deng just makes too much sense for both parties.. thoughts?

Not a fit. We need three point assassin types.

This guy is a winner. Plays hard, game still has 2-3 years left. We need players that have it going on upstairs too. This team has too many knuckleheads and kids that don't know how to win.

Enter Deng.

A little old for this core... starting to warm up to Stevenson... it looks like he's discovered passing.

I say just use our ~$10 mil or whatever it is on Stephenson. He's young enough that he fits with Drummond/Monroe/KCP, can pair with Jennings/KCP to give us a strong 3 guard rotation, we'd pluck him from the Pacers, we've got a strong enough head coach to handle him and he has the alpha dog mentality we need with guys like Drummond & Monroe.

I like deng a lot. I watched a lot of him in Chicago and he's a very smart player. He's a decent 3 pt shooter, so he can fit.
If we manage to move smith, i'd be all for it.

this, he's a solid player but not a sniper from the 3 position which we sorely need

No thanks to Stephenson as good as he is he's got that punk ass it factor that could destroy a team. Pacers keep him in check.

I'd rather go after Ariza than Deng, similar defense but better 3 pt shooter

personally i don't like Stephenson. He's talented, but he's got character issues and i don't think he'd fit the type of player SVG would be looking for.

We need to change the culture of this team/organization. Stephenson isn't going to help in that regard.

Stephenson is also proving to be invaluable to the pacers. He's getting paid.

We also need defenders on the perimeter and he's a very good one.
If we can get shooters off the bench, we could make it work.

Given Monroe's passing ability I think we can get by playing Lance at the point. I want to bring back bully ball and be able to out muscle/go into every game with a size advantage.

Could someone list all possible FA impact players we may have a shot at? Would be nice to know. Exclude Restricted players that will likely be matched.

Deng is the only free agent I've been looking at. I think he'd be a nice fit.

Stephenson is an interesting prospect. I love his talent and fire, but that personality of his might be too volatile for a young group and SVG. We have enough head cases to deal with.

I like Stephenson's game a lot, but character issues concern me. With SVG as coach, I think he could handle him but we already have Smith and Jennings attitudes so I don't know.

this team needs floor spacers much more than it needs defenders. Guys can be taught how to play proper defense and i have faith SVG will do that

Pool is actually pretty barren. I'd target a veteran pg like a Hinrich to push Jennings and be able to start over him if he needs to be benched as a lesson. I'd also look to bring in a Shane Battier, a winner, a highly respected veteran leader - he can still hit the three and he's from Detroit and has his rings so might be open to coming here.
