I don't get the fascination with Monroe. Our defense would be abysmal if we sign him to play PF. And his offense isn't good enough to make it worth it.

Chad Fords first mock has us taking Mcdermott

"A very tough outcome for the Pistons who have to send this pick to the Hornets as part of the deal that shipped out Ben Gordon. Could McBuckets really go this high? Consider the situation. The Hornets desperately need shooting and scoring out of their small forward position. This might be a little high for McDermott, but his athletic numbers at the combine gave teams a little more leeway to take him this high and he is a good fit in Charlotte. The team is already loaded with athletes, they just need shooters with great basketball IQs. I think McDermott or Stauskas, either one, could end up here."

And Warren at 24

There's a run on wings! Warren is the best scorer of the lot -- a player who looks for and can get his shot from anywhere on the floor. Given the Bobcats' scoring issues at the 3 (Michael Kidd-Gilchrist may be a great defender, but he's struggled to find his offense) Warren is a great fit here. His lack of a 3-point shot is the only thing holding him back from going higher.

I dont really want him either....but i can see us signing him, it will work out 1 of 2 ways

Way 1-Best scoring front court (PF/C combo) in East by far
Way 2-Bad bad and more bad

I honestly wouldn't want him on Charlotte's roster. A big like Monroe that lack post moves and average less than 1 block per 36 isn't the type of player that I'd want to compliment Jefferson

I'm thinking more long range with Greg Monroe. Clifford/Ewing will teach him team defense like they did with Al Jefferson and in 2 years he will play C.

Furthermore, if Jefferson gets hobbled next year, Monroe moves to C and Zeller starts at PF instead of Biyombo + Zeller on the floor at the same time - a disaster if you ask me.

Having a PF who is also a capable C on the second unit would help rest Al and keep him fresh hopefully deeper into the playoffs.

Monroe is very young and definitely coachable. His a Hoya, like Ewing and he will learn.

Monroe's seriously just a very poor man's Jefferson. No sense bringing him here. We'd be better served taking David Lee off Golden State's roster, and even that is extremely far from ideal on the defensive end.

James Young is everything that Charlotte need out of a future wing to pair with MKG and compliment Kemba. Young has size, the ability to put the ball on the floor, defensive potential, 3-point range, and he's a aggressive scorer --- not the type of player that you have to beg to be assertive when the team need offense

That's why I want Young. He won't shy away from the moment. Hendo's inassertiveness pisses me off but at the same time I accept it because he's not really good enough to just put the ball in his hands and expect something good to happen. But Young can score, score from everywhere and he's 6'7".

If Cho drafts James Young at SG then what do you want to do with cap space?

Definitely try to sign a PF that's better than McBob. If not then I would be content with a big one-year deal for a player like Randolph or something.

Brace yourselves. I wouldn't be opposed to trading for Rudy Gay's expiring and playing him at PF. He's been playing some PF lately in the league for the Kings and he's been kinda succcessful as a stretch 4.

I don't see the Hornets drafting two SF's with MKG here. McDermott is a stretch even considering MKG unless they plan to trade MKG.

Stauskas gives them the advantage of having a 2nd ball handler (goodbye McRoberts) and a shooter (goodbye Hendo) while opening the door for cap space to be spent on a PF (Monroe) and C after Big Al in 2 years (Monroe again).

Monroe shot 34% in midrange last season and 56% in paint, Al shot 40% in midrange and 62% in paint so the spacing wont be good which is a bit worrisome

Words can't express how bad of a pick Gary Harris would be for Charlotte after being so fortunate to land the #9 overall pick

Kemba Walker-PG/Mo Williams
Nik Stauskas-SG/Gerald Henderson/Neal
MKG-SF/DeAndre Daniels/Taylor
Greg Monroe-PF/Cody Zeller
Al Jefferson-C/Greg Monroe/Biyombo

Kemba is primary ball handler, an improving PG and with an improved 3pt shot can stretch the floor.

Stauskas is secondary ball handler (supposedly elite ball handler and play maker) and 3pt threat.

MKG is anchor on defense to provide help defense for Monroe, Zeller and Al.

Daniels is 3pt threat off the bench, solid defender. Great 3-D 6th man.

Monroe negates double teams of Big Al and opens the interior for both to do serious damage in the paint. He can learn team defense and allows them to cut ties with McRoberts as secondary ball handler.

Al's game opens up with Mo Williams, Nik Stauskas and DeAndre Daniels added to the roster. Kemba's improved 3 pt shot along with our new shooters really creates an inside/outside dynamic.

Against touch C's like Hibbert in the East or Vukevic, Biyombo gets more PT.

...and the defense would be worst. Greg Monroe make Carlos Boozer look like he has solid defense

@DraftExpress
Hearing Parker isn't really in play for Cleveland. Will come down to Wiggins or Embiid. 50/50 right now. Embiid will do a 1 on 0 workout.

It's a sleeper.

The 2 main differences are Hendo and McRoberts.

Their replacements are much much better.

Stauskas is a huge upgrade over Hendo. He can waltz in and hit wide open 3's without flinching, handle the ball unlike Hendo and make his teammates better as a playmaker. He is the opposite of Hendo.

Monroe is a 15-10 PF who can back up C for Al giving him more rest, keeping him fresh and sharp. McRoberts can't do this.

I think Stauskas would be the best immediate fit as well. Lavine has the most potential at that spot though, so if we're looking to trade it for a vet then he should be the pick.

Monroe & Jefferson cannot coexist for any ball club expecting to win

Monroe allowed his opponent counterpart to live up to a 21.2 PER against his defense

Unless someone unexpected falls, Stauskas is who I want. He's as good of a player as anyone at that spot and he's the best fit for our team.

I like Lavine, but he's too much of a risk at 9.
