As odd as it sounds josh for #8 and fillers is actually a possibility IMO.

People are seeming to forget this biggest aspect he will not want o play for the Kings or Sixers or Wolves. Realistic options are Pelicans, Lakers, Celtics, Wiz, and Suns.
He will play wherever he can get the MAX money.
No team will give Monroe Max he had a chance to prove he was worth it but failed. If he was truly a max player Pistons would do everything in their power not to let him go no matter what. At most I see him getting 12 mil and I'm sure he would sacrifice 1.5 mil a year to win and not be miserable on the team and city he's in. So the talk of him going to the kings won't happen. They Kings wouldn't want him anyway because him and Cuz would be horrible next to each other. Clogging the paint and 0 defense between the both of them.

The thing is it shouldn't sound odd cuz Josh Smith is not that bad a player. The problem is his value is at an all time low. No one would or should give up an 8th pick for him. U can get him for way cheaper.
Which brings us to our next predicament. We pretty much traded the 9th pick in the draft for him and his awful deal. Van Gundy will need to be patient on trading him and might need to keep him through the season to build his trade value. After losing a pick, from a value standpoint, you can't just sell him for 50 cents on the dollar. I'm sure SVG can use him to his advantage for now. Hopefully not at the expense of Drummond/Monroe.

The thing thats scary there is, assuming this happens and Smith comes off the bench, what if Smith pouts even more off the bench and doesn't by in? His values even lower now. SVG knows more than anyone here, he'll access the situation but I think you get what you can for Smith, start building the culture we need and go from there. Also, someone firey like Lowry would be the perfect floor general for this team.

It's mind boggling guys still get worth & market value confused.
Monroe & Cousins would fit even better than Monroe & Drummond do because Cousins could actually play on the perimeter more because of his jumper.

But Sac has enough scoring they had 3 player who averaged 20pts. They are looking for defense and Monroe doesn't fill that role.

Atlanta couldn't get anything of value on him as an expiring a few years ago. I can't imagine his value has increased as he's gotten older and paid more since then, Combo.

No
Landry and Thompson would be a waste of cap space. Getting the 8th pick isn't worth the trash we're receiving.

Sounds good value-wise. I'm not sure Rondo would accept the trade though, especially when the guy(Smith) he always wanted to play with goes to Boston.

Re: The Trade Thread
A couple of players I believe will be on the market trade wise that haven't been mentioned yet cause they're not big names:
Lou Williams from Atlanta
Jared Dudley from the Clippers
Not sure on their contracts & haven't done any leg work on either player yet...just throwing it out there for the moment

Lou Williams would be a good addition to the bench. Dudley? No, thanks!

Don't like Gordon much at all anymore. He is not a that great a player anymore, but at least he is a solid wing player which the Pistons desperately need while he would only be on the team for 2 more years which is less than Josh. Decent trade. I think New Orleans may even consider straight up.

Detroit and Houston say no, Terrence jones has a lot of offensive potential and is a decent defender for today's nba , smith neuters their spacing and he is already very old, Detroit trading for eric Gordon is a lateral move
New Orleans takes the deal and runs
Edit: Detroit may say yes but I don't see why Houston would want to be involved

I have an idea! Why don't we trade Monroe for our pick back!? It would be like we traded Monroe for Smith lol

Seriously, if we can get a Top 10 pick for Monroe, I think it neutralizes Dumars mistake. It makes sense! We signed Smith for nothing and I think Monroe is going away anyway.

What about Josh Smith for PHI #10 pick in 1rd? It is a litter lower pick but we would get rid of Jsmoove and have 1rd pick in this draft.
