That's what I was thinking too. Varejo seems redundant salary even if it's expiring. I do think Cleveland would be interested as they desperately want to get into the playoffs and Love would be a huge step. Even if they can't lure LeBron they could resign Deng and have enough to make a run. They also seem like they would be willing to gamble on a trade for Love without the extension thinking they can convince him to stay. I wouldn't trade the 13 in a Love trade though.

Varejao is partially guaranteed for $4 million. Thompson is an expiring also. We would have just under $19 million in expiring contracts that could either be used in trades or jump into the 2015 free agent game. I guess it depends on which year you want the money. This year's free agent class seems pretty meh to me.

If that package is on the table I take it. Move Varejao to a team that needs salary relief and is willing to pay us to help. Then try to work on an extension for Thompson, if it seems too expensive you move him as well.

The Cavs winning the lottery definitely changes things. I wouldn't consider the #1 pick out of play, but if the TWolves want Thompson/Bennett/Waiters/etc, I suspect they'll need to sweeten their side of the deal.

I don't think the Cavs would just absorb Love's contract, though. Our cap space is another valuable asset that we can use in various ways. With the additional leverage, the Cavs may prefer to move Jarrett Jack rather than Varejao.

It's pretty well known that he was insulted that he didn't get a Max five year contract. When he was offered only 4 years, did he ( or his agent) insist on a player option for the final year. Probably, yeah.

Yet another Wolves screwup.

The best that the Wolves can hope for is a top 4 pick (potential star)in this year's draft in exchange for Love. I fear that they will get less than that. A whole bunch of never was'es, has beens, and lower first rounders, which, as we know, usually amount to crap when in the Wolves hands

Maybe the Celts could trade up with Orlando at #4 and then deal us #4 for Love. Orlando would be happy to take Smart at #6 and get some extra incentive.

BOS OUT: Green + #6 + Sullinger + Salary Fillers (Bogans, unguaranteed contracts etc.)
BOS IN: Love

ORL OUT: #4 (Exum)
ORL IN: #6 (Smart) + Sullinger

MN OUT: Love
MN IN: Exum + Green + Filler

I feel like that would be ideal if Cleveland doesn't want to trade #1 for Love or if he wont sign an extension there.

Not sure how i feel about Green, but i really like getting Exum

Wrong. Flip showed us last year that he is doing draft right. U can't say negatives about the drafting now till flip screws up. Even last year when he grabbed shbaz! He didn't sound really excited about it, but decided that was best place for him. And he hasn't been bad. So gotta have faith. I fully expect love traded at draft. And a top six pick and a package of multiple extra picks plus fillers.
I'm more for moving love and drafting guys and paying them then dealing with green or lee or any other "older" guy.
At least there would be hope instead of "oh, here cones David lee" now we know who we are before the games are played

Lol. Send love to Utah for s&t Hayward,#5 & #23.
Let him cry for a year. Haha. :banghead:

Lol

Had to do that. Sorry.

Actually Boston would work. What they have #6 &#17? Sullinger, bogans. And a first next year ..... Why would we want the filler? A lot of talk of the team will take another bad contract from us? Why? So we can eat greens contract? So trade a problem for a problem? Boston can almost eat his deal. So cherry pick the guy(s) we want and if they don't wanna give them up, then up the required picks. And if not we move on. To Chicago etc..min u say we calling Chicago Boston says hold on and done. And if all else fails. There is Houston who won't say no. Haha

Kind of going off the Cavs 76ers trade in the T&T forum. If the Cavs were to trade us #1 for Kevin Love, would you trade 1 to the 76ers for 3 and 10 or just stay at 1?

Would you either want Wiggins + Stauskaus/Harris at 13 or say Parker + McDermott + Stauskaus/Harris?

i'm sure we could unload one of Martin, Brewer or Chase as well

Well going off of the hypotheticals here, I think I would 100% rather trade down to 3 and 10 for #1 if I'm understanding you right. At #3 you can still get a franchise changing player and #10 is nice because someone may have been JUST out of reach at #13 (they go 11,12, etc) and you can snag them now.

But like I said, that's fans perspective, if you think Wiggins (or any of the others) is the next real deal super star you just make that pick at #1 and build around him. If you think anyone of Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, etc are all equal prospects then it's a no brainer to trade down to 3 and 10 as you'll still get one of them and pick up the 10th.

Chad Ford on his chat today said he expects Philly to offer it's picks for Love. I'm on board with that.

I would take those picks over the first pick.

Parker or Embiid

Package #10 and #13 for #6 or #7 and grab Randle or Smart

I'd be shocked to see that, but yeah, it'd be a slam dunk for you guys.

I am impartial when it comes to what the Wolves do. I just find these trade talks and values by fans fascinating.
1. A lot of you guys WAAAAAYYY overvalue Taj Gibson. He's a dime a dozen. He is an average at best player. Same goes for Butler. I almost hope that the Wolves trade with Chicago, just to watch that dumpster fire.
2. It seems like trading with Philly or Cleveland would be the best idea. Get the #1 and TT. Or #3 and #10 are very nice too, then package the #10 and #13 for something higher. I'm not sure that Love would be down for playing in Philly though, just because of all the gutting that they did.

Keep it up.

I'd rather have capspace and make sure Barea and other contracts don't see 'Sota light more than twice a year.

so if they take bad contracts and don't give us Young I'm fine with that.

#3 and #10 for Love, #13, Barea, Budinger, Shved

if they want to give us Young thats fine too. but no more Barea, can't take that guy anymore.

3/10/young -> love is fair.

If philly offers that, that might be the best deal we can get.

3-Wiggins/parker, 10- aaron gordon would be good return for love.

ESPN 29 Love trades.

Sorry, sending this from my phone. Some are funny, others just a plain not funny joke and others are pipe dreams.

Although the Blazers trade made me laugh, not because it would a good or bad trade, but because of what it says about Timberwolves fans pretending to have not meant the things said about Aldridge rebounding.
