Come on, people. Don't let the uninformed speculation of one random journalist affect you like that.

7 foot Serge Ibaka is such an awful comparison for Embiid btw, wonder how Simmons came up with that?
Embiid is African and Ibaka is African and that's it.

Exactly. If this is true then he is off my draft board. Wiggins or Parker is all I am interested if this is true.

If Embiids back is hurt and Wiggins goes 1, it just makes me more annoyed that Cleveland won again with a 1.7 percent chance. We endured such a bad season and we can't even get the young promising wing player in the draft to help invigorate our roster.

I've seen that one paragraph about the spinal condition and it was nothing but complete speculation. Ill-yasova may have a cold, but it also could possibly be SARS. Author- Some guy with no background in medicine
Everyone's reaction: "Holy crap did you see that Ill-yasova probably has SARS. DO NOT WANT!!

He says that but ends it by saying
"The truth is, Wiggins and Parker never separated themselves enough this season to warrant anyone saying, 'We’re passing on a potential franchise center with a good chance of becoming the 7-foot Serge Ibaka.' "
can see where I would think he's making that comparison

Zeezprah wrote:Swan Vox wrote:This looks terrifying after what we have gone through with Packer players getting vertebrate fused. Would not pick Joel without a clear picture of his medical...Reports from Kansas during the Final Four pegged Embiid’s injury as a stress fracture which is called Spondylolysis, which is a small crack in the pars interarticularis portion of the lumbar spine. This injury usually heals normally with rest and rehab. The unknown in this equation is if the condition is really Spondylolisthesis, which is a recurring stress reaction, related to vertebra shifting forward and sitting on nerves. The surgical treatment for that is surgical fusion, which is a scary concept for NBA teams. It is believed this is the second time Embiid has had this injury, which is why there is so much debate and concern.

wiggins, parker, or exum it is. not even messing with that crap. back injuries on bball players are death sentences,
Off topic, but is that gif from Da Ali G Show? Haven't seen it in a while but it kind of looks like the same set. If so, nice!

Re: Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid
Here's a conspiracy theory for you: Cleveland floats this story about the back injury being a recurring ailment. As a result Wiggins becomes the consensus #1 making their pick much more valuable while also devaluing the rest of the top 4 or 5. This causes a team like Philly to offer up a nice package for #1 and Cleveland trades back to #3. Philly takes Wiggins, Bucks take Parker, and Cleveland gets the guy they wanted all along... Embiid.

Wise1 wrote:I've said all along that Embiid and Parker are 1 and 2 on the Bucks board. I think Embiid and Parker will go 1 and 2 in the draft. At best, I see Wiggins going 3rd to Philly. I don't see the Bucks taking Wiggins over Parker. I really don't. Parker has the added allure of being able to tap into the Chicago market. He's the Grant Hill type face that every organization wants to stand behind. He makes the most sense for Milwaukee all things considered. This is a business and our new owners will likely consider marketability if all other things are equal.
How does the Bucks picking Parker "tap into the Chicago market" as you put it?
Very few to zero basketball fans in Chicago are going to suddenly become Bucks fans just because we drafted a kid from that area. He'll instead be on a team which Chicago fans simply want to beat. It's not as if Parker chose to attend Illinois instead of Duke, and then lead Illinois to an improbable NCAA title, making him a hero in the state. All he is now is just another really good high school player to come out of the city of Chicago, that goes on to play in the NBA outside of the Bulls.
As for marketability, the only thing which could put the Bucks back on the national map is the team winning again and having a star player being a huge key in the revival. So unless Parker became a great NBA player and thus helped turn the Bucks franchise around, nobody is going to care what city he played high school ball in or how often he smiles. Same for Wiggins, Embiid, or Exum. Just how marketable any of them become will ride almost entirely on how good of an NBA player they become and if their teams win because of it.
You mention Grant Hill. Sure he was a really good guy, but it was him having great years with stats lines lines like 22pp/7rpg/6apg and good defensively which allowed him to be marketable. He was an elite player before the injuries.

Since people brought up Grant Hill, his 2nd season was pretty remarkable in terms of raw production. He averaged 20-10-7. He did everything for that team.

Parker is no grant hill, doesn't make anyone around him better, weak defender.....actually Parker is Glenn Robinson, if I had to make a comparison.

It still makes me sick to my stomach. From 2003-2010 they were able to enjoy the wealth of one of the best ever to play the game. Their FO failed to surround LeBron with the proper pieces, but they were still perennial contenders every year.
Then LeBron leaves, they get Irving 1. Thompson 4. Waiters 4. Bennett 1. And now this? I still don't get it. I feel like I can't fully enjoy #2 because of Cleveland. I hope they **** up the pick so bad.

Seems a major stretch to me. If the Cavs front office decides that Embiid is the best player in the draft, hoping some scheme like that would work out is an unnecessary risk.
If the Cavs were to end up trading their pick, the odds strike me as very high that it would be for a quality veteran like say Love or something similar to that.
I feel the same about some here talking about a hypothetical trade where Philly gave us the 10th pick to move up to the 2nd slot. Unless Hammond and everyone involved was in agreement that after Cleveland picked, the next two guys on the Bucks board were rated as totally equal in evaluations, it's just not worth moving back a slot in case Philly took the player we had rated higher, even if the 10th pick was added.

I could be wrong, but his high school coach said he had a similar injury his senior year in high school, but he likely never had an x-ray to show that it was the same injury. That's my read into this.
