1) Pick-and-roll!
2) Add shooters on the wings (i.e. Stauskas at 13).

Edit:
Also, despite his terrible FT shooting, Gordon still shot 35% from the college 3.

And then when do we collect our championship trophy with Rubio, Sullinger, Staukas, Gordon, Shabazz, Dieng? Yikes that team sucks.

Gordon made 16 3-pointers. His FT % is a much better indicator of his shooting ability.

I know the same was supposed to happen to MKG, but Gordon has apparently changed his form, and likely just needs some more reps to become a decent FT and 3PT shooter. His handling, passing and and extra length and athleticism sets him apart from MKG on the offensive end as well, even though MKG has a crazy motor.

MKG still played 22 MPG guarding Lebron against Miami in the playoffs in his second year. Not too shabby.

1) The team is going to get worse before it gets better. Nobody is denying that. It's what happens when you're forced to move your star player.

2) Rubio, Thompson, Barnes, Lee, Dieng also sucks, but doesn't give us a shot at a high pick and has a very low ceiling.

The thing with rebuilding is that it might mean we need to trade Rubio. If we drop back down to a 20-25 win team, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts trying to find his way out of here too.

I don't know about that. I remember MKG being compared to a young Scottie Pippen before he was taken #3. Rubio also changed his form and we all know how slowly that's gone. Don't get me wrong, there's lots to like, I'm just not as optimistic as some of you guys when it comes to projecting these kids.

I appreciate the different point of view. Anyway, nothing more to say except that was a fun discussion. It will be fun to watch it play out.

Among the trade thoughts from Bill Simmons:
http://grantland.com/features/the-nba-s ... f-mailbag/
Cleveland:
Trade the no. 1 overall pick, Anthony Bennett and an unprotected 2015 first-rounder to Minnesota for Kevin Love. That’s a MONSTER offer. Boston wouldn’t be able to trump it from an upside standpoint. And by the way, ’Sota could flip that no. 1 pick to Philly for no. 3 and no. 10, take whomever’s left between Wiggins and Parker, then have the no. 10 and no. 13 picks as well, plus Bennett! That’s a RESET button and then some.

I just want mgmt to figure out a decent deal w/ CLE for #1 + ... for Love. We should at least get Wiggins/Parker out of this if we're forced to get rid of our best player.

i was thinking that minnesota could accept gerald wallace's contract in the same trade. cap space is critical to boston if they want to compete immediately. in order to unload wallace, they would have to provide minnesota additional assets.

As much as I like this for Minnesota, it's important to remember that Bill Simmons is an idiot and his fantasy trades should never be taken seriously by anyone ever.

Celtics fan here with some thoughts and questions on a possible Kevin Love trade.

In the Wolves gm shoes, I'd favor the #1 pick from Cleveland if he can get it or perhaps better yet #3 and #10 from Philly, if Wiggins/Embiid are still on the board, before anything Boston should offer. Warriors are my second favorite team but I'd honestly be skeptical of what they may offer even though they may offer the best win now package of players. Win now is just so tough in the WC it may make sense to just wait for some of the good teams to get old.

Regardless, What do Wolves fans think is a fair offer for Kevin Love that both sides might agree to from Boston including the 2014 6th pick?

In addition, do you prefer Olynyk or Sullinger or neither? Olynyk had a somewhat disappointing first half of the season given his strong summer league but finished up the second half really strong. Sullinger was shooting 3's this year for development purposes and perhaps tanking reasons so his numbers were worse then his ability level. I don't think either will ever be a top 40 player but I think both will be good players to have at a minimum.

Based upon what I've seen, I really like Gordon and even Smart -- both need to work on their shooting -- but don't really like Randle that much unless he really develops his perimeter game so it will be very interesting what teams 4 and 5 do. Exum looks like a total wild card to me. I'd be afraid to take him but afraid to bypass him as well.

Only speaking for myself, but I'd do:

BOS GETS: K.Love + C.Budinger
MIN GETS: 6th pick + J.Sullinger + K.Bogans (exp) + J.Anthony (exp) + B.Bass (exp)

BOS GETS: K.Martin
MIN GETS: TPE + Better of Brooklyn or Boston 2016 1st

Wolves should even be willing to throw in #13 to Raptors to get this done. Core of Rubio, DD, Ibaka (all relatively locked in) plus developing Dieng and the ability to trade Pek and/or Brewer for another core player.

Wolves Trade: Love + Martin + Budinger
Wolves Receive: Ibaka + DeRozan + Salmons NG Contract + Dallas 1st via OKC + 2017 OKC 1st
Wolves Why: This is more the retool offer I am sure Wolves fans and organization want for Love.
C: Pek/Dieng/Turiaff...if Dieng proves to be real deal, Pek gets moved for sharp shooting SF or SG
F: Ibaka/LRMAM
F: Brewer/Bazz
G: DeRozan/Shved...DD shooting and production has come a long way
G: Rubio/Barea
+ use #13 and #21 to secure shooting at either SG or SF

Thunder Trade: Ibaka + Perkins + Jackson
Thunder Receive: Love + Martin + Budinger
Thunder Why: Playoffs proved the need another scorer and blue collar rebounder just like Love, even at the cost of 3 max players surrounded by role players and rookie contracts.
C: Adams/vet/Thabeet
F: Love/Collison
F: KD/Bud
G: Martin/Lamb
G: Westbrook/vet
*Trade would need to be done at 2 different times due to Martin.

Raptors Trade: DD + Salmons
Raptors Receive: Jackson + Perkins Expiring + 2015 OKC 1st
Raptors Why: Even if Lowry is retained, Jackson fills a need and is nice PG of future paired with Ross now moved to more natural SG position.
C: Val/Perkins/Hayes
F: Amir/TH/Hayes/Patterson?
F: Fields/Novak
G: Ross/Fields
G: Jackson/FA/Lowry?

Why in the world would Toronto even consider doing that? That trade is horrific for them.

Pretty much my ideal Celtics trade too. What I don't like about it is at #6 best players on draft board are PF.

So? We get the 6th pick by trading our starting PF. Seems to fit perfectly to me. Cunningham is a free agent and won't be brought back. Sullinger (or Olynik) fits right into the backup PF position.
