Trade idea?

Post#1 » by DetroitDon15 » Fri May 23, 2014 9:40 pm

I know New Orleans has interest in Monroe. Do you think a sign and trade of Monroe and Smith for Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson works for your guys? Another idea would be a sign and trade of Monroe and Jennings for Anderson and Holiday (less likely). Does either of these deals work for you? We would ha e the money to give Deng 4 years 40 mill and actually have two shooters in the SL. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Gordon and Anderson would be too much money for just moose, I would do Ryan Anderson and Anthony Morrow for Greg Monroe. That way we also get a really good shooter who can come off the bench. I would then try to sign Ariza or Deng and also keep looking for Josh Smith trades out there. I would do the Jrue Holiday trade but don't know if Pelicans would do it.

Sign and trade deals can't include additional players from the team signing and dealing right? So how would the pistons get around that to give additional players to a team? I'm sure there's a round about way to do it, but would it get cleared by the league?

If we deal Moose for Anderson, I want to deal Smith for a wing player. It can be two separate deals as well.

I think the biggest problem is that none of Anderson, Gordon, or Holiday play in Charlotte.

If I had money to give Deng 4 years $40 million, I'd rather be broke.

No, because Gordon and Anderson play for New Orleans. I don't believe Charlotte can wheel and deal players from another team.

The fact that the Pelicans are already in a salary cap bind until 2016 makes me believe that they aren't all too willing to add Smith and Monroe's longer contracts since that would screw them over until like 2018

Thanks! Howard's still on top of everything.

As for the actual trade listed... I'm not on board. Monroe is a viable piece to the puzzle. I don't know that Ryan Anderson is. I know we need a stretch 4 but they are easier to get than a back to the basket scorer/defender like Monroe. He's not untouchable but I think you need to hold out for something greater.

The stretch 4 can be attained in free agency.

Have you ever actually seen Monroe or Anderson play? Anderson would be a perfect fit here, he's the better player of the two no matter what scheme or situation and he makes about half of the money Monroe is about to be making. This is a no-brainer.

I've seen them both and I'm not saying Anderson wouldn't be a fit. We disagree however as to the total value of Anderson and what Monroe is worth. I'm not saying Monroe can't be dealt, either; I just think he can fetch more than the stretch 4.

I would rather let Monroe walk then trade him for Gordon. Gordon's contract combined with his inability to stay on the court has me saying no to this. Also trading for Gordon is pretty much giving up on kentavious.

Its more about getting value out of Smith. No one will take his deal as it stands.
