What does your Hornets roster look like?

Post#1 » by MasterIchiro » Fri May 23, 2014 3:42 am

I think it will be interesting to see how everyone plans free agency and the draft and to see how closely a poster(s) mirror the Hornets actual 2014-2015 roster. It's impossible to predict with so many variables in the draft, trades and free agency.

Here's mine - I'm going to try to keep it simple.

PG-Kemba Walker/Mo Williams
SG-Nik Stauskas/Gerald Henderson/Gary Neal
SF-Luol Deng/Michael Kidd-Gilchrist/Jeffrey Taylor
PF-Cody Zeller/Mitch McGary
C-Al Jefferson/Bismack Biyombo

SF - Trevor Ariza/CDR/Jeffrey Taylor
PF - Kevin Love/ Jeff Adrien
C - Jefferson/Biyombo/Haywood

Thought I would shake mine up a bit.

I like that we might be targeting Monroe but after giving it some thought, I figure Detroit will match and pull off a sign & trade. His market is broad enough I think to solicit offers. We don't really match up with them in a trade and I doubt we draft with them in mind. The players we'd be drafting for them are shooters and we need shooters. We have the same needs so therefore I think they will look elsewhere for Monroe in a sign & trade. After losing this pick, they have to match any offer. Their fan base would be destroyed if they lost both for nothing.

So I spent my money obviously on the only other position I think we would prefer to upgrade other than SG (Stauskas) and that's SF (Deng). We have our big little 3 in Kemba + Deng + Jefferson and some nice young support players in Stauskas + MKG + Zeller + Biyombo + McGary. Plus Kemba is really young. The roster is balanced with youth and vet leadership imo.

I don't think we go into 2014-2015 without adding one more impact player.

Kemba Walker/Mo Williams/Seth Curry
Jeremy Lamb/Gary Neal
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist/Jeffrey Taylor/Chris Douglas-Roberts
Kyle Anderson/Cody Zeller/Isaiah Austin
Al Jefferson/Bismack Biyombo

or instead of Isaiah Austin you could add Jahii Carson?

Al/Biz/Haywood
McRoberts/Randle/Tolliver
MKG/Afflalo/CDR
Stephenson/Afflalo/CDR
Kemba/Stephenson

Yeah that is one hell of a pipe-dream, but here it goes:
we trade Zeller, Hendo, and #9 for Randle.
We then follow up by trading 24, 45, Neal, Taylor for Afflalo
then sign Lance Stephenson and a couple of no-name scrubs who don't crack our rotation like AJ Price or an undrafted center or something.
We bring back Tolliver and CDR.

PG: Walker / Sessions / Pargo
SG: Afflalo / Neal / Taylor
SF : Kidd-Gilchrist / Doug McDermott / CDR
PF: Z. Randolph / Zeller / Payne
C: Jefferson / Biyombo / Haywood

Draft McDermott at #9

Draft Payne at #24

Find someway to trade Henderson for Afflalo. Henderson + 2nd round pick for Afflalo?

Re Sign Sessions back

Sign ZACH RANDOLPH!

PG- Kemba Walker, Ramon Sessions, Shabazz Napier
SG- Nik Stauskas, Gerald Henderson, Gary Neal
SF- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Jeff Taylor, Wesley Johnson
PF- Josh McRoberts, Cody Zeller, Kris Humphries
C- Al Jefferson, Bizmack Biyombo, Emeka Okafor (That would be funny/ironic)

I think the best part about this off-season is that nobody has any clue what is going to happen. Should be exciting. I also think that Avery Bradley would be a surprise pickup and play him as a 2 guard.

Bradley would be perfect off the bench............................................if we didn't have Henderson.

I pray that we can somehow offload Henderson and Neal.

I know I dislike Hendo and can't wait to replace him but if we get rid of Hendo to bring in Avery Bradley it would be one of those "don't know what you got til it's gone" situations because Hendo > Bradley.

I'm not so sure Henderson would adapt to a bench role. And at least Bradley can hit open 3's.

I think Hendo would play well off the bench trying to get his starting spot back. Lol. But once he realize that he not getting it back I can see him turning into utter trash. Good thing he only got another 2 years on his contract.

Trading up to get Lavine + Stauskas as a back-court.

Would it be too unexperimented ?

And Hendo can't? He did shoot 35% from three this season. He's made a significant improvement over the last 2-3 years. He's starting to get comfortable. I'd rather have a pure shooter, but he's not bad as a bench shooter.

Here's mine - I'm going to try to keep it simple.

PG-Kemba Walker/Mo Williams

SF-Luol Deng/Michael Kidd-Gilchrist/Jeffrey Taylor

The lineup I want:

PG-Kemba Walker/Mo Williams
SG-Nik Stauskas/Gerald Henderson
SF-Michael Kidd-Gilchrist/Glenn Robinson III/Jeffrey Taylor
PF-Greg Monroe/Cody Zeller
C-Al Jefferson/Bismack Biyombo

That is a very young team built to win with the same blueprint beyond Al Jefferson's tenure here.

I don't think we will sign Hayward or Stephenson after drafting Stauskas. If we could add a 3 with upside to challenge MKG for minutes, I would think Luol Deng's money would go to Greg Monroe.

Was Cody Zeller traded for Arron Afflalo & Jameer Nelson in this scenario?

For Afflalo. Nelson was waived by ORL then signed.
I do not want Nelson, I'm okay with Afflalo, but Clifford wants these guys so I expect to see them.
