Re: gordon or vonleh?
I think if Vonleh makes it to there he's the choice. A big that can shoot and stretch the floor and has a tremendous upside. Bigs who're versatile are a must in todays NBA. Gordon's athleticism is very impressive and he also has a huge upside but I think he's really a SF in the NBA but he could play the PF in small stints

Gordon has limited offensive game. Doesnt rebound that well either. I think he is like Shane Battier who has to work on his shot to get to Battier. Vonleh is the better prospect, IMO

Gordon has a much better chance of reaching his potential, and its not cause its lower. Gordon easily for me. He definitely had to hold back on that AZ squad.

Re: gordon or vonleh?
Gordon is a defensive weapon with leadership skills, a great motor, and I agree his worst case scenario is a high character version of Ariza. Vonleh scares me. Don't want a stretch 4, don't want his BB IQ, and he reminds me of Jermaine O'Neal who took so long to develop he was with another club on his second contract by the time he looked like a player.

Regarding gordon, anyone that knows his game pretty well, do you think if he can develop a good /consistent 3 pt shot, he can be a chandler parsons-like player?

Nah, he will never reach Chandler Parsons potential.

Re: gordon or vonleh?
If Vonleh isn't taken at #5 or #6, we should definitely take him. Would taking LaVine at #7 be worth the gamble if Smart and Vonleh are off the board? It definitely would be a reach, but the Lakers are rebuilding anyways.

Re: gordon or vonleh?
Both are projects that you'd have to wait for the finished product, which could take 3-4 years before they get it.
When I read the scout reports on Vonleh, several things bring up a red flag. For a big he has limited footwork, which by NBA standards that means he'll have a hard time working in the paint. And as Double D aka Danny Darko pointed out his BB IQ is lacking, his court awareness on both ends is weak. Far as I'm concerned footwork and IQ go together.
Seeing as we need a front court player that can produce, these two are just in the convo with Randle.

I haven't seen much of Vonleh but I'm just not a fan of college players who can't even lead their team to the tournament. He must be one of those raw athletes who has potential to be great, but #7 is too high for him and too risky. Gordon looks legit.

Re: gordon or vonleh?
I feel like I'm the only basketball fan on this entire message board who doesn't watch NCAA enough to recognize names.
I mean, I know the majority of the top players, but I only heard of Aaron Gordon's name a couple months back, and Vonleh's name a few short weeks ago.
I should start paying more attention to the NCAA. It's just too boring to watch. That 35 second shot clock + zone defense + shortened 3pt line = hard to watch for extended periods of time.
/Rant
Anyway, I voted Aaron Gordon because I've heard his name the most.

Re: gordon or vonleh?
Gordon has too many negatives for me to buy in. I'm not sure why so many are on the wagon.
He has trouble finishing around the rim (that's at Collegiate level, wait till he gets to the NBA), awkward shooting form, not a great shooter nor scorer, thin frame, no real position.
The guy screams out journey man.

Re: gordon or vonleh?
Vonleh has a much higher ceiling and has rim protector potential. After playing with Pekovic, I think Kevin Love would want that.
Also, Vonleh didn't lead his team to the tournament, but that doesn't mean Gordon did. That Arizona team was loaded, and the Pac-12 has more middle tier teams than the big 10. Other than the other ridiculously stacked team in UCLA, I'll take Oregon, Colorado, ASU and Utah over perennial top 15 teams in MSU, OSU, Michigan and Iowa any day. Might even throw Nebraska in there.

I like Gordon because he is the complete opposite as Vonleh. High BBIQ, athletic, good motor, good passer, doesn't need the ball to be effective, not a black hole on offense, can guard multiple positions.

I do not think it matters, mitch seems open to trading the pick for something older, slower and not wanted. He has traded away years of first round picks and we do not have many over the next few years. Why is this. To help Kobe win a title. Well that window has closed.

Truthfully don't want either, I'd go for Smart or Randle.

I still don't get why the Utah board went with Randle. Looks like they've given up on Enes Kanter.

Re: gordon or vonleh?
aaron gordon for me..
at first i love vonleh's outside game.. but like i have previously posted, his lack of "IQ" scares me..
plus, you can't go wrong with someone known for his defensive ability after that horrendeous season we had
though would take smart if he's available
