I keep hearing that's the only way to get Melo to either CHI, HOU, or GS. so I think it is. And yes - it would be for bird rights. You guys are way under the cap and could then sign Lebron straight up.

LeBron's max would start at 20m, carmelo's at 22.5, we're at 32m & that's after renouncing rights to varejao+gee, you're looking at 75m payroll & the cap is at 63m.

It means you'd have to take Jerrett Jack

I think, if they really want to play together - besides them opting in until next year, this would be the only way it happens. Or Lebron opts in MIA, they let go of Bosh and Wade takes a pay cut to sign Melo straight up.

I think Bosh has a player option. I don't think he will leave Miami because I read that he loves it there, so I don't see how Melo can join the Heat.

I also think Bosh's legacy is at stake as well. I think he considers himself a hall of fame player. but being 3rd option won't get him there. I could see him trying to be the man again somewhere. Trying to get his numbers back up.

That is possible. However, if LeBron leaves for Cleveland this summer then Bosh will most likely stay and be the man in Miami. In this case, Carmelo could either go to Cleveland to play with LeBron and Irving or to Miami to play with Bosh and Wade.

Here's my nonsense trade idea for the offseason:

1st Trade:

Trade #1 to Philly for #3 and #10.

2nd Trade:

To Minnesota
Waiters
Thompson
Varejao (buyout)
2014 #3
2015 Miami 1st rounder

To Cleveland
Love

3rd Trade:

To Memphis
Bennett
Jack
#10
2015 Memphis 1st rounder

To Cleveland
Gasol

You might actually need to combine this into 1 giant trade.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nzm2jc2

I know the above works financially. Here's the part where Im not sure would work.

Sign LeBron for the Max
Sign Vince Carter for the MLE
Sign Dejuan Blair for Minumum

Irving/Delly
Carter/Karasev
James/Felix
Love/Blair
Gasol/Zeller

Now please tell me how that wont work financially so I can forget about it.

Got some advice from RCF to change Jack for Zeller to Memphis, which still works financially. Id probably try to exchange Memphis' 1st for our own if we swapped those two players.

Two things.

1) I'm turned off by any Love trades because i dont think he'd stay. If he signs a 4 year extension i'd be interested in deals.

2) Memphis laugh at that offer, Gasol is worth a lot more than that. He's arguably the best centre in the league in my eyes.

3) What are the chances we hit on the #10 pick? Let's just keep the #1 and draft the best (fingers crossed) guy.

Spoiler:
That's three things.

Edit - Oh wow no Loves not worth that much. Minny would be lucky to get a top 3 pick in this draft for him let alone the rest we are throwing in. He's leaving regardless, they aren't getiing that much value for him.

That team is too thin.

I'd rather do:

Irving/Jack/Delly
Carter/Karasev
James/Felix
Love/Benett
Zeller/Stiff

and use #10 and Memphis pick to fill in the holes. Gasol is great and all but you need more than 4 players and Carter/scrubs

Appreciate the critique.

Didnt Miami win the championship with 4 players and a bunch of scrubs last year?

LeBron = LeBron
Irving = Wade
Love > Bosh
Gasol > Allen
Carter > Chalmers or Anderson

You could take out Thompson or waiters and still get Love, probably both of them. They aren't getting a better return than a top 3 pick in this draft.
Also Memphis wouldn't do that trade and Lebrons a long shot. If Lebron did want to return here one day it could be further down the track and not next season.

No offense to Love but I do NOT want to make a trade for him. I hardly would even want to give up the #1 pick for him straight up, let alone all the other stuff that trade may require. Just take Embiid.

Agreed and i think Love is a top 10 player (closer to top 5 than 10)

Na.

We actually wanted Enes in 2011, thanks for taking him, dodged that bullet.

LOL, because Tristan 0.4 blocks per game Thompson is definitely on his way to becoming a star?

didn't say it was impossible or even unlikely. I'd rather have a bench though.
