Was Cody Zeller traded for Arron Afflalo & Jameer Nelson in this scenario?

For Afflalo. Nelson was waived by ORL then signed.
I do not want Nelson, I'm okay with Afflalo, but Clifford wants these guys so I expect to see them.

Well played

Any clue what Orlando would be looking for to get Afflalo?

I could live with it. Only one glaring question: where's my boy Bismack and what do we do with all that unused cap space?

Biz will still get minutes at the 5, we all know Okafor won't play every game anymore and save the cap space for next offseason.

A short term deal and a 2nd rounder. He's not in their future plans so nobody should buy high on this guy at all.

Kemba/Stephenson/Lavine
Stephenson/Hairston/Lavine
MKG/Hairston/Taylor
McBob/Zeller
Al/Biz

I would try to throw away Hendo and Neal to ensure we draft Lavine and Hairston or to snag a second round pick or something if we don't need to move up. Make the playoffs again next year and plan to be a threat in 2-3 years with Lavine as a really good sixth man and change of pace scorer. If MKG develops the ability to defend PF's for stretches we could roll out some crazy fast and athletic lineups If Al opts out we have Lavine as a possible future centerpiece to replace him and we have cap to resign all our guys.

I like keeping the 9 and 24 and still getting AA. I have not been a huge fan of going after him but this way I could live with it. I think McDermott plays the backup 3 and Hill the backup 4 in this grouping though. McBuckets is just to small to play the 4.

I think Afflalo would have been our primary target had the Cavs not struck gold again.

I think our cap space will be spent for the launch of the Charlotte Hornets rebranding campaign. There's no doubt in my mind about that.

So I want to combine a FA and a pick that I think go together.

I think it's Stauskas + Deng or Stauskas + Monroe.

Pick 24 will maybe influence whether they go for Deng or Monroe.

If they select GRIII or a SF like DeAndre Daniels then the cap space goes to Monroe.

If they select Stokes at 24 or someone like McGary then the cap space goes to Deng.

Either way, I think we see 1 new starter FA next year and possibly add 2 potential starters via draft. I think Stauskas would oust Henderson in time for the playoffs. I like GRIII's chances against MKG. McGary might even be able to oust Zeller but he's coming off injury and bigs seem to require longer timetables for development.

Just thought I would throw out a different scenario than everybody else. What do you guys think of this?

Kemba Walker- Grieves Vasquez- Spencer Dinwiddie(45th)
Gordon Hayward(FA)- Gerald Henderson- Gary Neal
MKG- Cleanthony Early(24th)-Jeff Taylor
Aaron Gordon(9)- Cody Zeller
Big Al- Biz- Haywood

Give Hayward around 4 year 36 million. Grieves 3 year 12 million.

I like Aaron Gordon but not for this team, he is basically MKG with a half decent 3pt shot but is a horrendous FT shooter....but it is exciting to think about them on defense...that would be the best duo in the NBA

or...

Kemba- Sessions- Clarkson(45th)
Stauskas (9th)- Hendo- Neal
MKG- Vince Carter- Jeff Taylor
Monroe- Zeller- Payne(24th)
Big Al- Biz- Haywood

Sign Monroe away from Detroit, Sessions is open to coming back, and then grab Vince Carter as a veteran swingman, think he could help Taylor.

With you except for Monroe. He is very close to a worse defensive player than Al and you force him out of position. Monroe is a 5 and if you pay what they want for him you need him at the 5. The only FA that really fits our team is Hayward or to a lesser extent Deng but if we get them we need to move Henderson to clear up floor time for our young guys.

What would it take to get Taj Gibson?

Pick 24 + Neal + 2nd rounder enough? Bulls could flip 24 + Neal to the Thunder for 21.

Bulls would have picks 16 + 19 + 21. That seems like a good base to swing a sign & trade for Carmelo Anthony.

PG-Kemba Walker/Mo Williams
SG-Nik Stauskas/Gerald Henderson
SF-Luol Deng/Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
PF-Taj Gibson/Cody Zeller
C-Al Jefferson/Bismack Biyombo

Doubt it. They've told Gibson they'll start him next season at the expense of Boozer, so then who plays 4? They won't need to S&T Melo, if they can sign him outright. In the end, Melo controls where he goes. There's no reason for the Bulls to stockpile picks just to throw them away to New York. They certainly aren't dumping Gibson. I expect their price would be #9 for Gibson and one of their 1sts.
