Re: semi-annual Real Gm Team Board Mock Draft
How exactly do you score 2nd place when you can only draft one player? Basically your 2nd choice is the guy you would not take. To me it looks like 8-5 Randle. So I guess with that in mind.
I'll switch to Randle, Randle, Randle... oh and... Randle

well, if two guys end up with the same number of 1st place votes obviously you've gotta go deeper. randle clearly has the edge right now, but 2nd place is more interesting:
1st place votes: smart 5 vonleh 5
2nd place votes: smart 3 vonleh 5
3rd place votes: smart 7 vonleh 1
several people don't even have vonleh in their top 3. i think it's safe to say that smart is getting a bit more love despite vonleh's edge in 2nd place votes. either vonleh is polarizing or an unknown quantity to some

Smart, Randle, Vonleh
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Vonleh measurement's are similar to Derrick Favors..Vonleh would be a top 3 pick in any other draft.

Re: semi-annual Real Gm Team Board Mock Draft
But he doesn't have the athleticism of Favors, he doesn't have the offensive skill. He's a plodding big that gets rebounds and can spread the floor, but not nearly as well as Memo did. He is an absolutely terrible fit with both Favors and Kanter. We need to draft a player that has some sort of elite skill, because if a player doesn't already have it, he won't develop into an elite player (most likely). I'd rather draft Doug McDermott than Vonleh, because at least you know he can score...I think that Smart is our guy.

They're right, Randle is a mini-clone of Kanter, complete with similar strengths and weaknesses. Randle is a terrible pick.

Randle doesn't have Kanter's midrange game...Inigo has compared his physical stats and game to Thomas Robinson. Not good .Jazz need a versatile player with multiple skillz like Dario Saric if Dante Exum is already taken.

I'm well aware, see bold. Take away Kanter's midrange game and size advantage and you basically have Randle. Plus, he doesn't have the athletecism of Robinson, not even close.

Please no. Not to sound racist or anything but the last thing we need is another white European.

Though their not white Europeans, you must not like San Antonio's team.None of them are athletically superior to other NBA players, their not even young anymore, they just know how to play basketball.Saric can play better basketball than Vonleh or Randle.

We need good basketball players with unique skills. Who cares where they come from? Saric fits that bill.

Re: semi-annual Real Gm Team Board Mock Draft
I'm still highly unsure who I like. I liked Smart at first but he can't shoot. Saric puts up crazy numbers but when I watch the videos it looks like he is playing versus the slowest people on earth. Randle seems like a great fit if we had a real center.....we don't. Eric looks nice but will he learn to shoot ever? They all have issues.
I have seen no videos of Vonleh in action. But if it is true he can shoot from outside he might be the best pick. At this point if I was the jazz I would highly consider trading down a few spots...possibly the kings pick?
In a perfect world.......call up Cleveland and offer up Favors, the 23rd, and two future first round picks for the first. Supposedly they want a defensive big man. Favors is a guarantee to play for them now that he is under contract and he is "proven" and on a nice contract. Then draft Wiggens with the first and Vonleh with the fifth. SIgn Hayward and play different combinations of the seven main guys....Burke, Burks, Wiggens, Hayward, Kanter, Vonleh, Gobert. Use the cap space for more assets again. Do this year what should have been done last year. Like I said.....in a perfect world.

I do like the Spurs, they play together great, and you are right age is no issue for them. I don't know what they have to do with white European players. I also never said anything about athleticism, not sure where you got that from. I also don't know how you can say Saric is better at basketball then Vonleh or Randle (please provide proof). We haven't even really gotten to see him play. Also stats are always way better in the Euro league then in the NBA.
