Greatest AAU teams of all time

Post#1 » by CaliBullsFan » Sun May 25, 2014 8:01 am

The best teams I ever saw were OJ Mayo and Bill Walker's team I forget the name, and Jordan Farmar's team that had Amir Johnson, Josh Shipp and I think Nick Young played off and on with them too.

I was having an argument with a friend who claims the best AAU team ever was a team from NYC that had former #1 recruit Felipe Lopez, Stephon Marbury, and God Shammgod.

I know Iverson and Joe Smith played together on Boo Williams, Oden and Conley had a great team, the famed SoCal All Stars with Brandon Jennings, Kevin Love, Daniel Hackett and Renardo Sidney, Another NYC team had Lamar Odom, Ron Artest, Rafer Alston and Elton Brand for pure talent that is probable the best

I'm interested but clueless . . . hopefully there are some AAU fans out there who can give some more. Thank Cali.

I have a small knowledge about high-school basketball, but Lawrence North a few years ago played Greg Oden and Mike Conley.

The Spiece Indy Heat played Mike Conley Jr, Daequan Cook, Eric Gordon, Josh McRoberts, and Greg Oden. Dominant.
This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

Durant and Ty Lawson played together, Rip Hamilton and Kobe played together, Eric Gordon and Josh McRoberts also played with Conley/Oden, Gordon also played with DRose for awhile...

Personal favorite is Dejaun Blair and Terrelle Pryor playing together :D

LOL, "Indy Heat" sounds so weird.

Anyway, this starting five would be decent even in the NBA, assuming we could cherry-pick the best NBA season of each of these players.

2009 Oden
2014 McRoberts
2009 Cook
2011 Gordon
2014 Conley

8th seed in the East, assuming everyone's healthy all season? :)

I think the NY team you're talking about is the Gauchos. The rapper Cam'ron claims to have played for them and been a star 'back in the day'

That Artest/Odom/Brand team was amazing. Brand especially was a monster in his HS days. Coach Dermon Player coached those 3 and did a fine job.

Didn't Kidd-Gilchrist play on a team with other NBA players recently? Tyreke Evans, too?

Yeah, in high school, at St. Patrick in New Jersey he played with Kyrie Irving.

He played AAU ball with his current Pelicans backcourt teammates Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon. :)

Thanks. And DAMN! Those are ridiculous combinations of players at the pre-college level.

:) That drive by Rose at 3:55...Or 4:26. Makes you feel so sad the dude couldn't really play ball for the last two years. Hard to believe he'll ever regain anywhere close to that level of explosiveness.

I know Heisman winner Sam Bradford played with Blake at some point.
