laVine is not and will not be better than Derozan. PERIOD. I think it's pretty clear Demar is a late bloomer and is only getting better, I see him peaking at 27/28. Gordon on the other hand has busy written all over him as he's an undersized 4 with no offense. LaVine could be a steal at 20 though granted.

Well, that explains his crap free throw shooting! Too much time seeking out nostalgic clothing to concentrate on the present and his future!

I watched him play (1 game), he is more a Bargnani. And worse, his shooting isn't as good.
Very poor rebounder, avoid contact. Even Bargnani will make some contact and boxing out players.
I think Powell is a better prospect if you are looking for stretch big in the 2nd round.
Damn, after all this search you had to crush my dreams

Gordon shooting threes? Lawwwl. He can barely shoot free throws, granted that's why he has the potential tag on him. I agree about Lavine he can definitely grow into a player better than DeRozan but that's iffy. Not many guys can draw and take as much contact as DeRozan. He's an elite free throw drawer and his post up game is upcoming. DeRozan at 27 will be making contested 3 balls (like he does Kong twos now). I see him peaking as a top 3 shooting guard in the league...

How can you see him making contested three pointers, when he can't even make open ones?

I don't care who we draft as long as our biggest weakness is fixed , if we can't stop or even slow down the big SF like JJ or LJ we are going to go down in flames again next year .

I was gonna say why does this board love Inglis too, I haven't seen him on many mock drafts or anything.

It would be nice to pick up a guy in the draft capable of doing that, but for next year, you probably don't want to rely on the draft to solve that problem.

Yeah, if your goal this off season is to find a big wing to slow down JJ and Lebron, you won't find it in this draft - no rookie will be able to come in and defend all-star wings from Day 1. Better chance of signing a big wing like Marvin Williams or trading for Wilson Chandler. Goal here is to add a young piece to the core that we can use.

I don't see that.
Randle has much more varied offensive skills than Stokes. ALTHOUGH, not sure if Randle's bull rushing style off the dribble will work effectively at the next level like it did at UK against inferior athletes.

People seem to have a skewed idea of how big you need to be to play the 4. Gordon might be under strong but that's because he's 18, and frankly he doesn't even look that scrawny to me. Guys like this virtually never end up playing the 3 in the NBA. Josh Smith played mostly the 4, Jamison (smaller than Gordon) the 4, David Lee the 4 and the 5, and on and on.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft Prospects Thread #5 | Raps picking 20th
who are the best sf's on defense in this draft?????
K.J. McDaniels?
Jerami Grant?
Damien Inglis? (Tremendous potential defensively. Has the wingspan, frame, intensity level, lateral quickness and instincts to stay in front of virtually any player. Guarded every position in the games we saw - Givony)
is there anyone else besides lottery picks?

Some guys shoot better with a hand in their facr . Demar made quite a few contested this season.

Damien Inglis is our draft pick. 6'9" (height) + 7'3" (wingspan) SF with tremendous defensive potential - can't ask for more at 20# pick.
Worse case scenario: Al-Farouq Aminu
Best case scenario: Al-Farouq Aminu with offensive game (which would be an all-star caliber?)
Aminu http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Al- ... minu-1293/
Inglis http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Damien-Inglis-6428/
TWO very very similar players
Am I the first to make this comparison?

DraftExpress
What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

Well Gordon isn't gonna play huge minutes from the get go and IMO hell be able to play and guard okay enough at the 3 spot (MKG does it, doesn't he?). Big lineups with him JV and Patterson will still spread the floor cuz of Pat, but Gordon will give a big boost on the boards.
Either way, I don't think we have the assets to grab Gordon without giving up a valuable piece from our core. If all it takes is Salmons + 20th pick + 2016 NY First to grab a top 10 pick, then sure I'd be all over it.
Why wouldn't mkg be able to guard the 3? He's always been a perimeter player and can be put on NBA point guards for crying out loud. Where's the comparison with Gordon?

That's what I was thinking because he is strong and at 240 lbs and just turned 19 he is a freak and bigger than anyone we can sign . He could probably step in and guard most of the SF right now .

How about asking for some actual basketball skills. Ranking prospects based solely on physical measurements is a quick way to draft a bust.
Don't get me wrong, I like the potential of Inglis. But he is not going to be draft at #20.

Randle = Kenyon Martin w/o the D.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft Prospects Thread #5 | Raps picking 20th
Yeah Gordon is really overrated on this board. I see no reason to move up at all... At BEST he's a smarter Josh Smith but not even that is guaranteed. And he's not going to be a successful 3 either. If he's there at #20, that's a no brainer but he's not worth moving up for.
Saric is going to be a player. I'd move up for him for sure. Reminds me a little of Gallo.
