Bosh is going through the process of becoming Dirk Nowitzki 2.0.
He's becoming more and more of a jump shooter, and lately a 3 point shooter. His game is moving farther away from the paint. The reason is obvious - Lebron and Wade are 2 superstars that need the paint as open as possible to be effective. They're both better paint players then Bosh, that's what you need to remember. So it's a sacrifice worth making from a team stand point. Bosh knows this and that's why he's changing his game in this direction for the past years, he really is all about winning and sacrificing.
The "problem", or the reason he struggles with the change at time, is simple - Bosh isn't quite at the Dirk level yet. Not in terms of comfort level or as a reliable shooter. He only began shooting a more serious amount of 3's this year. His shot is still kind of streaky. He's still adjusting to the role of a spacer. His confidence in his shot could get better. He's still learning what exactly are good shots for him, and how to still effect the game when his shot isn't falling. That's a key aspect he needs to get better at.
But I believe he'll get better. His 3 point % would go up I believe. He's probably going to take even more 3's, which will create even more space for Wade and LBJ inside. Hopefully he also becomes a bit more consistent with it, and learn to do other things to get into games (mainly get to the free throw line when struggling from outside, and fighting harder for rebounds regardless his scoring). As a team we'll also get better at finding him in the right spot, and feeding him when open. Right now we're freezing him out at times, we can do a better job as a team at maximizing his scoring talent.
Having a good defending big that can also hit long jumpers, and especially 3's, is EXTERMLY VALUABLE in today's NBA, and ESPICALLY FOR A TEAM WITH WADE AND LBJ IN IT.
Riley's job IMO is to help Bosh and find someone to help him carry the burden inside. that means - get a young athletic big that can defend, rebound and take some pressure off of Chris. Just like Dirk needed Chandler, Bosh needs help inside. Get him that help so he could flourish and light fools up.
If you could replace Bosh with another max player or combo

Name a better pnr defender that shoots as well from the perimeter.
Unless you're one of those that thinks we'll get better by stuffing the paint. Bosh improves everyone's efficiency, point blank. Don't take it for granted when he struggles.
every playoff run end always the same way " bosh needs to wake up " so on and so on.
Bosh learned our defense. Do you think birdman was this better on defense with the nuggets? Bosh was almost a black hole on defense in toronto bro. Im not saying bosh hes bad. He DOESNT deserve 14M. thats it.
You are right...he doesn't deserve 14 mil....but he is getting paid 19 mil which is even worse. Bosh is very overpaid and overrated. One good game does not change that.

This thread looks really silly now. People are way too reactionary.

I'd replace Chris Bosh with Mega Chris Bosh

Its obvious there is not another player in the league who can do all the things Bosh can do. He is a great teammate who sacrificed the most among the 3 stars, he is professional, and he is a really good defender. People talk about his lack of rebounding and inconsistency, but he has been as good as you can expect from a guy playing alongside 2 of the most ball dominant wings the game has seen. Kevin Love may be a better 3 point shooter and rebounder, but he can't defend like Chris.

im glad we got to see power Bosh this series. When he attacks the basket, blocks shots and still has that sweet jumper there isnt much you would replace him for. Im glad we have him. Ppl wanted Stoudamire or Boozer but Bosh is doing just fine.

Stoudemire or Boozer would have been disasters.

Re: If you could replace Bosh with another max player or com
Gonna have to bump this. I was wrong. Soooo wrong about all of this. Let me preface this by saying I'm not blaming Bosh at all.
Bosh was asked by Spo to expand his game to the 3pt line and he in turn decided to lose weight to move around the perimeter quicker. To that point, we went to three finals without Bosh launching 3 bombs. Why the hell did Spo feel the need to have Bosh thin out his game even more than he already did, I'll never know or understand but that hurt him badly. We have a team chock full of 3pt specialists and perimeter players and yet he asks his only big man with the semblance of offensive talent inside the three point line to move his game further from the basket. It made him an even bigger non-factor on rebounds since he can't even get into position to box out. Since he lost so much weight, he gets bullied out of his comfort zone on offense and defense quite easily.
He's like a poor man's Ryan Anderson now, only not as efficient and no rebounds...Why the hell did Spo make a max contract player turn into a chucking role player? Bosh was worth the max but his game has been absolutely neutered. He can't even step into the second option role because his face up game seems so foreign to him. You can see how uncomfortable he is unless he's shooting the ball.
Would it have been wrong of Spo to have Wade expand his shot to the three point line under the threat of coming off the bench? I feel like Spo took too much advantage of Bosh's willingness to defer to his wants and messed up his value and his game. No wonder we were all conflicted about what his worth was. I feel that Bosh picking and popping from 17ft out is more than enough space for LBJ/Wade to operate. This whole 3pt line crap Spo put on his shoulders was not necessary, IMO. He gets left open from out there.
