The Jusuf Nurkic Thread

Post#1 » by Jungleking » Fri May 30, 2014 3:54 am

DraftExpress has the 6"10 European center at #11 in their latest mock, the highest I've seen him anywhere. He's a 19-year old battering ram with nice post skills. Considering the interest in Monroe on this board, I'm surprised to not see him anywhere on this board. Anybody have any thoughts? He'd be an interesting draft pick.

Thanks for posting this thread because he's certainly a possibility at #9 depending on if Cho has a man crush on him. It wouldn't shock me one bit if this guy is the pick and stashed for a year or two.

This guy would be perfect to groom under Big Al for a year or two. He reminds me of Al in a lot of ways. I really like him as a player, but ultimately I can't say I want him at 9. We can get a better player who fills a bigger need.

Hes a fantastic prospect and all, but this board would implode if we selected him.

Oh god no I might stop watching the NBA until this front office regime is fired if we draft this euro bust. This thread should be locked and deleted so Cho won't get any bright ideas

it seems he will likely stay in europe next year. apparently he just signed a 3 year deal and his team is in euroleague next year. granted i just read all that on the draft board so it could be 100 percent trash. would be better fit for a team with multiple first round picks in the in the teens. dont think we can afford to use a top 10 pick on a player who wont come over for a year. same goes for saric. and i'd definitely go for saric over this guy.

Nurkic is definitely possible, not that I would want him at #9.

For me, every pick has been a complete surprise, besides the Kemba pick, which was obviously going to be either him or Knight, depending on who Detroit picked. Maybe I don't follow the draft rumors as closely as you guys, but I was absolutely floored when they called out Biyombo, MKG, and Zeller's name on draft night.

So I'm trying to expect the unexpected this year.

I expected the Biyombo, Kemba, and MKG picks, but I was totally oblivious when Zeller was selected at #4 when he was considered #11 in BPA

Zeller was like our only major workout, so it wasn't exactly out of left field.

Yeah, I don't follow the workouts as much as I should. I totally expected Zeller to fall past #10.

I know it means nothing, but my personal big board had Biyombo going in the twenties, I don't even think I was considering him with our 19th pick that we ended up trading.

That's because every other top prospect was injured

Cho had been scouting Biyombo for a long time. Once Cho set his sights on a particular prospect, that's who he'll draft. It's been rumored that he favors Dante Exum, Noah Vonleh, and Gary Harris in this draft class

I heard he likes Exum, but do you have a source on the Vonleh and Harris stuff? I feel like our members just made those up.

Cho's interest in Exum was confirm earlier in the year by Chad Ford while Vonleh & Harris maybe are just made up rumors by members since they both fit well into Cho's criteria

We'll never have a shot at Exum or Vonleh unless we trade up (please don't do that). Harris will be there at 9 so I guess we all need to hope that Cho doesn't want him. I'll go crazy if he's our pick.

I would be okay with drafting Nurkic at 24.

This guy throws off my bust radar, which is weird b/c I usually like players like this. He's really lacking in the skills department.

I would like him if he was a high character guy, but he isn't. Most likely to get kicked out of the league for punching a ref, lol. He sets off my bust meter big time. I like him anyway because of his high upside. Not a smart gamble though, ultimate boom or bust pick.
