Of course. Houston was trying to dump Lin last year and the key guy in the trade is Asik.I doubt Hou takes on Nash when he has an expiring contract that is cheaper than Lin.

so why'd you include the #7?
We need a legit big.Houston wont give Asik away and we are trying to win now. We can get Lowry possibly in free agency if we don't take on Lin. We have to suffer in the eyes of Mchale I'm assuming. Also, Houston is rumored to be after Melo and this would free up room for him.

u know, both lin and asik expire in a year right?

why even contemplate giving up the #7 for rentals? it's houston that has to add sweetener (and a fair amount) for anyone to consider taking on 30 mil in salary for 2 role players

I thought they were slated for 8 mill this year but they both had the back end contracts that balloon to 15 million.I see your point.

Yeah there's no way we'd take on Lin & Asik without getting a 1st.. Possibly even a 1st & Jones.

we should take it and run. There are no better way to improve this team except the pipedream LeBron will join us.

The Lakers really have no depth and no tradable assets except the 7th pick. Would you guys be willing to do this trade?

Lakers trade 7th pick to the Hornets
Hornets trade 9th pick and 24th pick to Lakers

Then,

Lakers trade the 9th pick to Suns
Suns trade 14th and 18th pick to Lakers

Lakers would be trading the 7th pick, and turning it into 14th, 18th and 24th pick.
Lakers would have more depth or use those picks as trade assets or a combo of both.

Lakers could probably draft
14th Zach Lavine/Gary Harris
18th Glenn Robinson III/Elfrid Payton
24th Kyle Anderson/Jeremi Grant

That would give the Lakers young talent for years that could turn into tradable assets or future all stars

thoughts?

Do we want to THINK about trading for Hibbert? Or would Kobe just destroy him mentally?

I think there are 8 potential top 15 players in this draft. We have the 7th pick.

Yeah Kobe will make him Kwame 2.0. Hibbert doesn't have stone hands tho but he has some stone legs, his movement and vertical is similar to an 80-year old

this is so gross for LA, are you sure you're not a fan of one of those other teams just trolling us? Giving up 7th pick and taking on Boozer and we move back 9 spots? :banghead: what exactly are you trying to accomplish here? So basically the "net" of this scenario is T. Jones :noway: cause you off-set Nash for Boozer and then traded 7th for 16/19th and Asik I guess who could be had for nothing if everybody plays hardball with Hou.

I dont mind his 1st scneario if Gordon is still there at 9th. Anything after 10th we're pretty much picking longer term projects and or role players. Gordon would at least have a good deal of potential to be a #2 in the mold of Marion, Deng, etc. type.

$30 million for two role players?

That's their salaries but they only count 17M against the cap.

it still plays a factor and big negative....what owner would want to pay $30mill dollars for 2 role players? Maybe Lin makes up for that cost I guess with his chinese market influence. I would do the deal if compensated enough and I dont think Asik on court positiive value is enough to compensate anyone for taking on Lin. Everybody knows what Hou wants to do, so why settle?
