The NY Times collected the data and created an interactive map delineating the various NBA team fanbases.

Clippers 'stronghold' seems to be East L.A. area, Pasadena/Burbank, along the hills and to the Westside/Santa Monica, sorta.

these maps don't mean a damn thing.

this is equivalent of a presidential electoral college map. all it takes is 1 more vote than the other guy to win the whole regional map.

remember, Rose Perot did not win a single state but 20% of the country voted for him in 1992.
ehhhhh f it.

and areas without competition also makes this look drastic. I live 40 miles out from Portland, Oregon and I only know 1 person in town who is a Blazers fan. the rest of the town don't care about basketball or retirees from elsewhere who still cheer for their hometown teams. but on the map, it looks like my town falls within a diehard Blazer country.

Note that as you zoom in on the map it shows the top 3 ranked teams, with percentages, by County and even by Zip Code (It's not winner take all, like the electoral college).

ha i see, didn't try to zoom in before, but it looks like the Clippers have about 8-9 % of the LA demographics, which is still larger than the entire population of the city of Seattle or Portland.

I have never been able to understand why the people of LA seem so distant to the Clippers, calling us the immigrants from San Diego when their team is a transplanted Californian from Minnesota. I do understand their rings, and how people without success in their own lives are automatically drawn into something else that are, to identify themselves with by association, but I have always felt the Clippers are a part of LA's sports scene just as much as any other.

hopefully with now Steve Ballmer in charge, and CP3/Griffin/DJ leading the way, we can take what is ours from the dinosaurs.
ehhhhh f it.
