If it wasn't for KG's injury, we would have seen 1 in 2009.

Probably final:

1. Lebron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Paul George
4. Blake Griffin
5. Chris Paul
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

I don't think Paul George deserves that 3rd spot.

I would put either Curry or Griffin there.

1. LeBron
2. Durant
3/4. Curry/Griffin
5. CP

I think I'm with this for now. I guess its tough to change now with only Lebron left.

Would your list in 2010 have Kobe#1 when Lebron lost despite the superior stats? Same here with Durant having superior numbers but losing to superior team instead of inferior team.

And yes I am drunk for now. But if you believe this is me talking normal you can accept. If not ignore!!!

Yeah, if you followed the MVP thread on GB you probably remember that for me KD had to outplay LeBron in the post-season to become the best in the league. I am gonna stay consistent and stick with that. Even accounting for superior competition, KD's play was quire mediocre. He was extremely up and down. He had good games but too many games where it seemed like if you limit KD's scoring his overall game also declines.

I still don't know how to account for Russ. I don't know where to put him. One thing is for sure though, I think he has taken a leap this year which will help him going forward.

Lebron arguably played better in the PO than Kobe and he completely dominated the RS. Durant's edge in the RS wasn't anywhere near as big and he's had a huge drop off in the PO. Not the same comparison at all.

Yeah it was. Durant led the league in PER, WS, WS Per 48 min, scoring and when he lost it was to the team with the best record while Lebron lost to a 50 win team.

Agreed on all (except I had KD in a clearer lead than you early on). He was meh in the postseason, and Lebron's turned it up.

Regarding Russ, its weird, and a lot when I think of it is on the rest stuff. If you look at OKC, they had a bunch of issues in the RS.
Westbrook missed the first 3 games, then came back and was rusty for a short period.
OKC then went 21-4 on a stretch though Xmas, and Russ was awesome. He went out for about a month afterwards.
OKC played well w/o him, which is both a credit to KD and seemed to tire him out. It also made everyone think OKC is a great team w/o Westbrook, which is insane to me.
Russ came back, and simultaneously Sefolosha and Perk were injured. The defense sucked, and the team lost its rhythm for a few weeks.
To wind down the season, they started to play a little better, and Russ really hit his stride in the PO.

So in conclusion, he seemed to play well whenever he was in the lineup for a longer period. I'll be intrigued next season.

I think next year's MVP race will be fun again 8-). KD will be ready to go after a loss in the WCF and LeBron will either be angry or extremely content (if he does 3peat).

It is very interesting to see what OKC's management does here. They have to know that Brooks' offense sucks. It's hard to win titles playing a 2 man offense which can be easy to shut down at times. I was kinda surprised at Brooks' post-game presser. He looked pretty satisfied and I wasn't happy with his comments about this season being a success. I wouldn't call it a failure either but he was far too complimentary of the team.

Yes, and he led in all of those marginally. Lebrons lead in all advanced stats was huge against Kobe. And nobody cares about your 50 win cutoff mark.

Yeah, should be another fun year, gotta keep my LP subscription I guess!

As for the coaching, I wasn't a fan of his comments either. My quandry is that I don't know who they replace him w/ and that the players seem to love the guy. What I think is best is installing a new assistant or 2, and TBH this may or may not be insane, but I want Fisher to retire and be an offensive coach, maybe he can help (triangle?...anything?). Just my thoughts, but I'd be interested.

They desperately need to either replace Brooks or if they keep him bring in an offensive coordinator who can install an offensive system. Chuck isn't always right but he did have a good point about Brooks keeping RW and KD accountable. Even Spo keeps LeBron and Wade accountable in Miami and has said if they get mad at him he doesn't care. He doesn't have to neuter RW but he does have to get on him for some of the boneheaded plays and get on KD too when he's sleeping on defense or turning the ball over.

Durant had 29.8 PER and .295 win share
Lebron had 29.3 PER and .264 win share

in 2010

Lebron had 31.1 PER and .299 win share
Kobe had 21.9 PER and .160 win share

So yahhh, pretty big difference brah.
