Having a balanced roster is really important to me also, but I think it is still possible to do that if we bring in Love. I'm almost 100% positive we could fill the roster out with good role players even with Love and Rondo demanding the money they will demand. It's when people bring up Melo that I get shaky. Not because I think he is a bad fit but because I'm unsure we'd be able to build a balanced roster.

In the end, if we have a chance at a top 5 offensive player, impact wise, we gotta jump on it. Especially when it's looking like it won't kill our core.

Yea, I hated getting the early Kevin Garnett-Big Al trade info that got me 90:1 odds on the 2008 title...

And I really gotta question how often you are on CelticsBlog if you think it's somehow more reliable than here.

Fully agreed. Love puts up amazing numbers but I don't think he's the guy to go after or the right fit for the Celtics. It would be great to get back to the playoffs so soon but the core around them has to be perfect and that won't be the case.

I wouldn't mind grinding it out another year but then again, will Rondo stay or leave and Ainge has to show him something promising. Else he's out of here.

If Miami stays intact, Pacers shift around, Bulls get Melo, Wizards up there, I can see the Celtics end up at the 4-5-6 seed but you won't win anything in the end. So what's the point?

I did absolutely nothing wrong according to the book and I got 2 warnings on the GB. 1 for asking someone a sarcastic question and the other for posting a harmless gif. 3 warnings and I was banned.

Then when I pmed KingCuban the mod who banned me asking for an explanation he makes up some BS and calls me an ass for the way I worded the PM when I was pretty damn polite. Totally tried to bait me into a flame fest so he could ban me. He seems like a real sensitive guy or someone on a power trip.

Anyways, obviously it was all BS and I got unbanned but I'm done with that forum.

Some people are skeptical A-holes on here. Dont knock people on realgm.com. this is a great board and I know that i DO have sources as do a few others. And please define a source. Sources do not mean that you break every nba story. My advice is if u dont like it then leave. But u wont because you value our opinions, insight and inside information. Where do u think celticsblog gets it from?

This is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. I'm in bed at 4:30 AM really pissing my girlfriend off who's trying to sleep because I can't stop laughing at a Ron Paul GIF. That's enough internet for one day.

Years from now, I'm going to remember the extensive analysis on whether or not KLove's outfit (with scarf!) was appropriate for a May evening in Boston. Absolute classic.

I started out following CelticsBlog years ago, participating in the forums with the nick Greenwise. I found that people grew more and more unkind, less respect and not the right attitude. I left and never posted back although I read their news.

Later I joined CelticsLife and wrote many articles there as Bohemian. There are really nice people making that site and although I haven't written anything for them in months I always check them too.

To tell you the truth and to be 100% sincere I check this forum of realgm because you guys have always these sources. Nobody else in the net has them. That is why I love coming here to dive into your posts to find some gems like the ones yesterday about Kevin Love.

I think it is awesome that some people share the little things they hear from people inside the Celtics organisation. I think it rocks and I can't wait for more.

By the way, Kevin Love HAS to be a Boston Celtic. This NEEDS to happen. Fireworks! :)

I'm legitimately concerned about your well-being, should we land both Love and Melo, tlee. Not sure if it'll be death by Zakim or flat out cardiac arrest, but you should probably start preparing for the "worst." :)

What I don't know...If Love ends up in Boston (although I think it's looking good)

What I do know...People on this board definitely have sources. LBF, CAP, DDB, BFB to name a few). I don't post often, but I've been following daily since long before the KG days and there is no way that these guys aren't legit. Now for every one of the guys mentioned above, there are 3 or 4 Celtics Thugs. The enjoyment I have gotten over the years is seeing the reaction that the great posters (with sources or without) have to the fake insiders. It's gold.

What else I do know...Red Sox nation better get on their effing feet and pull off the warmest welcome in New England sports history. Standing O for 3-5 minutes or bust.

Celtics fans started a chant back in 2003*, when Theo Epstein brought Keith Foulke to a C's game. He was signed soon after and in less than a year, he was standing on the mound when they broke an 86 year drought.

---I'd say Fenway owes us one. 8-)

That's really what it's all about right here. **** can come doubt our sources, but we're going to believe them and we're going to talk fashion and that's just the way it is.

Love will get around 17 million if he opts in for the 15/16 season. And a little less than 30% of the cap (about 19 million) if he gets a maximum contract instead. That will still leave something like 60 million before the luxury tax - more than enough to round up your roster.

I don't get why some people are still hesitating on this. You'll get the best offensive big man in the NBA and only 25 years old. Make no mistake: Love in the east makes you a perennial playoff team. There will be plenty of time to surround him with other guys and probably at least one other superstar.

Don't look at our roster and say Love isn't enough. Look at what our roster can become having a top 10 player (to me it's top 5 and I've been saying that for a long time) with owners more than willing to spend, a gm that has already proven he can turn things around suddenly and a coach who had to have his team gutted of scrubs to actually start losing heavily.

As for our sources: in case I wasn't specific enough, anyone can spot the insiders on this board. When one of them states something the thread will grow to 10+ pages overnight. I still remember when the KG trade was discussed here back in 07 and reactions on the GB were pretty much the same. I actually broke the news to a guy on the beat here in Portugal and he didn't believe me at first.

So, start rubbing your Portuguese cocks (yes they come from a city here called Barcelos and are considered a good luck charm) because this thing may actually happen.

Yeah this board has never really run with anything that didn't have legs.. The worst we do is get 90 pages on a breaking trade that doesn't happen, but those are usually sourced by ESPN etc.

Really anxious to hear what we'd be giving up.. We could have assets to get a third star within a year or we could be stuck with two seasons of replenishing...

*funny, i just noticed that i joined these forums june 27, 2007. does anyone remember if there were any decent rumors around that time? i lurked for years before that though.

Hey guys I stand corrected... I admit that I come here very rarely. I specifically remember a poster named CelticsThug who would just make up random sources. He created a dumb blog and twitter account and had gullible people eating it up.

If since then, actual folks with legitimate "sources" have joined the forum, that's pretty cool.

There were guys with sources way before celtics thug started throwing things at a wall to see if they stuck. He actually got the KG trade right, but I'm not sure if it was luck or if he knew someone in the team at the time.

Because of that, anything he said was treated as inside info. A lot of people believed in him and got burned. But that doesn't mean that all posters are like him. We first heard the news about our interest in Love and a potential trade a lot of time ago in the board.

What happened to this thread. Kevin Love is in Boston, it's confirmed, he can't talk, and we have Celtics Thug references?

I just want ya'll to know, that I am shaking with excitement at this news that Kevin Love was in Boston.

Return to Boston Celtics
